Call it artcore, glamcore or whatever: strictly a dead end
From the late, forgotten Adult label Nectar comes this all-sex release, full of flash and style, signifying nothing.
It's one of many artifacts from the so-called Artcore movement in Adult Cinema of about 15 years ago spearheaded by the likes of Michael Ninn, something of an outgrowth of the famous exercises in style attributed to Andrew Blake a decade earlier. I recall that at its peak, Andrew Blake would command a whole section in the video stores listed under his name.
The dominance of gonzo/wall-to-wall sex in porn circles has only increased since then, but not so much the artsy-fartsy experiments exhibited here. Sure, the glamorous look is still a powerful draw (witness the popularity of Greg Lansky's label) but a music video-driven flash has turned out to be a flash in the pan.
So director Damien Rossi, who is chockful of self-praise in the DVD's BTS segment, delivers six fanciful but pointless vignettes, best of which casts Euro great Sandra Romain convincingly as an exotic Middle Eastern beauty in a sheik's tent sex scene. Quality talent includes a young Kim Kane (as a blonde), the inimitable redhead Claire Robbins, punk favorite Veronica Jett and superstar of the future Mikayla Mendez.
