To some viewers, the pairing of Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart on their cooking-meets-talk show Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party may have been an unlikely one, but the rapper says their connection extends well beyond the TV screen.
“We have an appreciation for each other and that makes any friendship genuine,” Snoop, 45, told People in the Tanqueray tent at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival on Saturday. “It makes it work, appreciating what someone brings to the table.”
However, despite the cheeky name of their VH1 series and having baked “green brownies” together, Snoop says their hangouts don’t involve smoking pot together.

Too often I fall victim to the classic “judging a book by its cover” and miss out on a great band simply because of their name (Foster the People, anyone?). A few years ago, I recall seeing “Ghostland Observatory” emblazoned seemingly everywhere I looked: magazines, music news, festival lineups. What the heck does it even mean? To this day, I have no freakin’ clue, but I’ve been making up for lost time by catching their concerts – a digital light show extravaganza – at every opportunity and preaching their greatness to anyone within earshot.
Surprisingly, Ghostland is just a duo of best buds from a place where it’s cool to be weird: Austin, Texas. Thomas Ross Turner mans the drums/keys/synthesizers, providing most of the signature Ghostland digital bleeps and blurps that the band is famous for. He frequently, or pretty much always, dons a cape,...

Like their British invasion forebears, The Kooks will be crossing the pond to tour in support of their album full of hooks this fall called "Junk Of The Heart (Happy)." "It's upbeat; an album to play in the sun," frontman Luke Pritchard said of the forthcoming 12 song record, "What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We're an album band and this is a journey you come on with us."
The Kooks already sold out three shows here in June, but the Brighton, East Sussex, lads are returning with a full tour with their label, Astralwerks. "Is It Me" was directed by Warren Fu who's done a few videos for Mark Ronson, Daft Punk, and The Strokes, whose influence you may hear a bit of in The Kooks.
"Junk Of The Heart (Happy)" releases September 13th in the Us.
