Now that Burke Devlin has revealed his plan to acquire everything the Collins family owns, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) shares a changed attitude with mother Liz (Joan Bennett). Burke wants to take away "the cannery, the fishing fleet and all of Collinwood." Carolyn is still attracted to Burke, however. Liz relates this to her attraction for Carolyn's father, Paul Stoddard. Upstairs, Matthew (Thayer David) is fixing a drawer of David's dresser. He warns David (David Henesy) about Burke, "a wounded tiger," but David likes him. Carolyn finds a photograph of Burke in David's possession...
