"This Goes on into Perpetuity"
Malloy (Frank Schofield) is drinking when Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) returns to town, from her lunch with Burke in Bangor. She calls the Blue Whale "my favorite hangout." As Malloy doesn't drink in the afternoon, Carolyn expresses mild concern. Malloy hints he may have unpleasant news to share with Liz. At Collinwood, Liz (Joan Bennett) is awaiting another call from Ned Calder. When she is on the telephone, we learn Collinwood's telephone number is COL-4099. Looking good, Liz welcomes visiting Collins banker Patrick McVey (as John Harris) from Bangor. They haven't seen each other in four years. Liz tells him she wants to set up a trust fund for nephew David, but Harris suspects something more is troubling his old friend...
Harris tells Liz, "You need Ned back at the helm before your whole fleet sinks," since neither Roger nor Malloy is capable of handling Collins Enterprises. Harris reminds Liz that Ned asked her to marry him before he left. Liz reminds Harris that she's still legally married to Paul Stoddard. Ned calls, but without good news. In his only "Dark Shadows" appearance, Mr. McVey has difficulty in his scene with Ms. Bennett, who provides no help. Bennett shows she can be both lost and effective. This episode ends with Malloy arranging to confront Roger with new knowledge regarding the 1956 car crash involving Burke, Roger, Laura and a dead man. Liz and her employees are also made more clear about Burke Devlin's motives...
