At Collinwood, Liz (Joan Bennett) and a visiting Sam (David Ford) try to determine what each other know about what happened in 1956 between Roger and Burke. In Bangor, Burke (Mitchell Ryan) meets with John Baragrey (as James Blair), a banker associate of Stuart Bronson who is helping manage Burke's planned takeover of "Collin Enterprises." He's no relation to Nicholas Blair.
Interested in a lunch date, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) has followed Burke to Bangor. Back at Collinwood, Joe (Joel Crothers) lets Liz know Carolyn may have followed Burke to Bangor. Liz worries about the whereabouts of Carolyn and Malloy...
In a foreboding bit of story development and hopelessly contrived scene, Burke gives Carolyn an expensive "sterling sliver" fountain pen during their lunch at the Bangor Pine Hotel restaurant. This fountain pen is held up for the camera, and you should treat it with importance as this prop will become even more important that the "bleeder valve" removed from Roger's brake system...
