Surprisingly, this one is kind of boring...
This might just be the strangest episode of "The American Experience" I have ever seen--and I've seen most of them! It's because although you might THINK that the film is about the America Revolution, it's really about a group of folks in New England who are working on a historical recreation of the Battles of Lexington and Concord. It's quite interesting how seriously they all take this and much of the film consists of showing their preparations as well as interviewing them--many of which stay in character. It's also surreal seeing guys in 18th century uniforms driving about in Saabs and using telephones!! But, after a little while, it then becomes quite boring. There is only so much of this to keep my interest---and 58 minutes worth is about 30 minutes too much. If you LOVE recreations and do them yourself, I am sure you'll like this show. But even me, a retired history teacher, found it all too tedious after a while.
