Many horror fans probably know that one of the working titles for Wes Craven's 1996 slasher revival "Scream" was "Scary Movie." "Scream," if you'll recall, was a metanarrative horror film, a slasher populated by teenage characters who were movie-savvy enough to recognize they were, themselves, in a slasher situation. The killer had seen "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th," and arranged his murders accordingly. As a character says late in the film, "Movies don't create killers. Movies make killers creative."
"Scream" almost immediately entrenched itself in the pop consciousness, tapping into 1990s self-awareness and reviving the moribund slasher genre for the irony generation. It also wasn't long before the culture became self-aware of its own self-awareness, and thought to dissect the very act of dissection. The ironic mockery of irony was the dominant ethos of the late 1990s. Listen to Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" sometime for another example of the attitude at play.

Anna Faris has a few non-negotiables if she were to reprise her role for the new Scary Movie installment.
Paramount and Miramax announced earlier this year that they’re making another film after director Malcom D. Lee’s Scary Movie 5 in 2013. The actress, who played Cindy Campbell in the franchise’s first four films from 2000 to 2006, recently shared with People magazine what it would take for her to join the upcoming movie.
“Well, money!” Faris said with a laugh. But she “would love to reprise” her role if she also knew her former Scary Movie co-star Regina Hall, who played her character’s best friend Brenda, was returning as well.
“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much,” the My Spy: The Eternal City actress added. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money.

Anna Faris would come back to Scary Movie. But there are a few conditions.

Faris last appeared as Cindy Campbell in 2006’s Scary Movie 4. Paramount announced in April that it’s developing a reboot.
She added that she “would love to reprise” her role if costar Regina Hall, who played her character’s best friend Brenda, would also return.

Paramount announced a reboot of the famous Scary Movie franchise and Anna Faris may become a part of it if her two conditions are fulfilled. One, of course, is good money and the second is the participation of her co-star Regina Hall. Faris and Hall portrayed Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks in the first four films in the franchise.

Hollywood just keeps greenlighting follow-ups to comedies from the 2000s, including the recent Mean Girls musical remake, the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series, and of course, The Bear, which is basically just a more stressful, pest-free Ratatouille.
But what about The House Bunny? You know, the 2008 Anna Faris vehicle about a Playboy model who is kicked out of the Playboy Mansion under false pretenses, and ends up becoming the House Mother to a college sorority. Hijinks ensue, obviously.
The House Bunny, has accrued something of a cult following over the years, thanks in no small part to its supporting cast, which features future stars like Emma Stone and Kat Dennings. So are there any plans to make The House Bunny: Legacy? Or The House Bunny 2049?

There may not be a sequel to The House Bunny in the works as of now, but Anna Faris does have an idea for one.
The actress spoke with People ahead of the release of her upcoming film, My Spy the Eternal City, where she discussed her 2008 cult classic that also starred Emma Stone, Kat Dennings and Rumer Willis.
“I always dream,” Faris told the publication about her desire to return to the role of Shelley Darlingson, adding that she has a vision for her character. “For a while, I was like, Shelley should be a bad country singer, and then I was thinking, ‘No, she should be a CIA interrogator.'”
The Scary Movie star continued, “Her skill is disarming people because she is perceived, and she is, as so open and nonjudgmental. So I was imagining Shelley saying, ‘Oh, what do I do for work? I’m a CIA interrogator.

The eyes might be the nipples of the face, but you may want to direct your attention to Anna Faris and her idea to take her House Bunny character, Shelley, in a new direction. Thanks to People, Faris is happy to share her idea for a sequel to 2008’s The House Bunny, in which she played a former Playboy bunny who’s kicked out of the mansion and forced to find a job as a house mother for a sorority full of socially-awkward girls.
Previously, Faris thought Shelley would eventually become a country singer, but now she believes the former Playboy bunny could pursue a career in high-ranking law enforcement. Singer Frankie Valli‘s son, Emilio, has been granted a temporary restraining order against his brother, Francesco. In recent months, Emilio claims that Francesco has repeatedly threatened to harm him and their famous father.
The request for the restraining order was filed on April 8 by Emilio, 29, in Los Angeles. In the filing, Emilio stated that Francesco, 36, attempted to break into their father’s property on April 5. During the incident, while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, Francesco allegedly made multiple physical threats to harm or even kill both Frankie and Emilio. Emilio asserted that this behavior is part of a pattern that has persisted for several months.
Emilio indicated in the filing that the family believes Francesco is struggling with addiction to opiates. While Frankie has been providing financial support to his son, Emilio claims that the support is now conditional on Francesco agreeing to enter a residential drug treatment program.

The official logline for the multi-cam pilot states, “Matt (Allen) is the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter (Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”
Dennings’ character is named Riley. She is further described as “Matt’s daughter who butted heads with her father growing up and left to marry the boyfriend he hated. Now divorced, Riley’s forced to move back home with two kids, hoping she and her dad can make it work this time.”
The role would mark a return to multi-cam comedy for Dennings, as she previously starred in the CBS series “Two Broke Girls” for six seasons. She also previously starred in the Hulu single-cam series “Dollface” for two seasons. Dennings is perhaps best...

All artists have phases within their careers, and while it's easy to demarcate what those phases are in hindsight, it can also be possible to see them emerging and mutating in real time. Emma Stone, an actress who began her journey as a comedy darling in films like "Superbad," "The House Bunny," and "Zombieland," soon found herself climbing to the A-list, nominated for an Academy Award for "Birdman" and winning Best Actress for "La La Land."
This past weekend, Stone won the Oscar for Best Actress for the second time, for her performance as Bella Baxter in "Poor Things." It's a win that seemingly signals a change in her career from a quirky ingenue to a complex and daring leading lady, especially when coupled with her other recent turn as Whitney Siegel in "The Curse."
Continuing that emerging trend, The Hollywood Reporter just announced that she'll be joining the cast...

Marc Charles Williams, better known as Mars Williams, the front-and-center saxophonist of ’80s New Wave bands The Waitresses and The Psychedelic Furs, died Nov. 20 of the rare and aggressive ampullary cancer in a Chicago hospice facility. He was 68.
His death was announced by his family on a GoFundMe page last month, but has more recently gained widespread attention. His brother Paul R. Williams confirmed the cause of death to The New York Times for an obituary posted today.
Following his initial stints in the Waitresses and Psychedelic Furs – both bands were early MTV favorites with videos often spotlighting the playful Williams, and he would reunite with the Furs throughout his life – the saxophonist went on to lead his own jazz ensembles including the influential, Grammy-nominated acid jazz group Liquid Soul in the 1990s.
A statement posted by his family on the GoFundMe page reads, in part, “Until the end, Mars’ inexhaustible humor and energy,...

Hollywood star Bruce Willis’ family is said to be “soaking up every moment” with him while they still can. The ‘Die Hard’ actor, 68, has frontotemporal dementia (Ftr), an uncommon form of the disease which causes a deterioration in personality, behaviour, and language.
A source told this week’s edition of UsWeekly, “Bruce has good days and bad days, but in the last two months, there are many more bad days than good. This experience has brought the whole family even closer together.”
“No one knows how much time Bruce has left, so they’re soaking up every moment they get with him. (Everything) revolves around him, Bruce has around-the-clock care, but at least one family member is always with him.”
Bruce, who is married to model Emma Heming Willis, 45, but has daughters Rumer Willis, 35, Scout Willis, 32, and Tallulah Willis, 29, with ex-wife Demi Moore, became a grandfather for the first time...

Plenty of haunted, Halloween and holiday options will crop up on Netflix in the month of October. The harvest doesn’t seem too lean despite the almost five-month writers strike that viewers are sure to feel next year, but at least the WGA and AMPTP have reached a deal, and hopefully, SAG-AFTRA is not too far behind. Luckily, Halloween and fall have a classic canon of films and TV shows that stretches back decades, and some of those staple watches will be available through Netflix throughout the month.
Movies include “Casper,” “Scarface” and the first two “The Amazing Spider-Man” films. New arrivals worth the wait include Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” starring Zendaya and Timotheé Chalamet among other heavy hitters, “Fair Play” with Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich and David Yates’ “Pain Hustlers” starring Emily Blunt and Chris Evans. There are a few standout new releases on Netflix in October, but it’s a rather quiet month on the world’s most popular streaming service otherwise!
Highlights this month include a brand-new series from Spook Master Mike Flanagan. The Fall of the House of Usher is a gothic tale loosely based on the short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, and tells the story of two extremely unpleasant siblings whose family dynasty ends up going to hell in a handbasket. Before you ask: yes, Rahul Kohli is in it. That’s all that a lot of people need to know here (we’re people).
Elsewhere, Netflix is dropping a few interesting-looking docuseries, including one on football legend David Beckham. It promises to be an “intimate portrait” of Beckham, and the filmmakers were apparently granted unprecedented access to the sportsman and his family while making it.

It’s almost impossible for Brian Cox to be in a bad movie because, well, he’s giving a Brian Cox performance every time. Simply put, Cox is the saving grace of his latest feature, “Prisoner’s Daughter,” a predictable family drama that has heart thanks to grounding performances by Cox, Ernie Hudson, and breakout child star Christopher Convery. The rest, however, leaves a lot to be desired.
However, there are still other pleasures to be found in the final product. Catherine Hardwicke is building out the perfect frothy cinematic universe where “Prisoner’s Daughter” and her recent Toni Collette vehicle “Mafia Mamma” could beautifully coexist — and make for an enjoyable wild ride.
Hardwicke previously spoke with IndieWire’s Kate Erbland about her wide-ranging tastes when it comes to picking scripts, and “Prisoner’s Daughter” is no exception. Written by Mark Bacci and premiering at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, the family drama...

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.
First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.
Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Barry (Bill Hader), a hitman who stumbles into acting, explores the dark, often comedic underbelly of both LA gangsters and Hollywood. Interestingly, not all of these well-known contestants actually won the competition. For some, the exposure from Idol was enough to skyrocket their careers even higher than those of the people who took home the grand prize. Here are eight American Idol contestants who became more successful than the winners of their seasons.
Jennifer Hudson | Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Jennifer Hudson, Season 3
Hudson is among the most famous American Idol contestants, and she wasn’t even a Top 3 finalist. She was eliminated from the Top 7 during season 3. Fantasia Burrino later won the season.
After Idol, Hudson built a lucrative career in music, film, and theater. She currently has three albums and more than a dozen movie credits, including Dreamgirls and Respect. Hudson is also an Egot winner and...

From “House Bunny” and “Hot Chick,” to “Just Friends” and the “Scary Movie” franchise, it seems that just about every project Anna Faris touches becomes a cult classic. And she’s very thankful for it – but it wasn’t always that way.
Speaking to “UnWrapped” hosts Emily Vogel and Andi Ortiz, Faris admitted that, while she always recognized how lucky she was to have landed the “Scary Movie” franchise on her first audition, there was some resentment of what it did for her career after the fact.
“I went through a whole lot of internal agitation with being associated with comedy, solely,” she said. “Like, I did not feel like comedy was ever my strong suit. And it felt confusing. And I felt resentful to — like, after a while, it felt like, ‘Why can’t I get that audition?’ You know, ‘Why can’t I at least audition for whatever...

It’s been 15 years since “The House Bunny” hit theaters, and Anna Faris taught us all that standing over a manhole is f—ing hot, and ordering just one mahi is an option.
The film released in 2008 and, you might remember, had a pretty stacked cast. So, let’s look back on where they’re at these days, after their time in the Zeta house.
And, if you’re looking for an extra dose of nostalgia, you can watch the original trailer for “The House Bunny” here.

When Gilmore Girls sent Rory (Alexis Bledel) to Yale, she met a lot of new people. In the season 4 episode, “The Fundamental Things Apply,” Rory meets a table full of boys in the dining hall. Adam Shapiro plays Sugarman, who is wearing a pink shirt over a T-shirt. The pink shirt covers the text on the T-shirt, so Shapiro recently explained what his shirt said.
Adam Shapiro | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Shapiro was a guest on Scott Patterson’s I Am All In podcast Nov. 16 to discuss his Gilmore Girls episode. He explained how the T-shirt ended up on the show and what it said in its entirety.
Sugarman wears Adam Shapiro’s Temple Basketball shirt on ‘Gilmore Girls’
You can kind of see the word Temple and Basketball on the gray T-shirt. Shapiro is, in fact, a Temple University Basketball fan. The pink shirt covers Temple coach John Chaney’s slogan.
