The second of two of Golden Films' second line of "animated classics" to be inspired by a novel, Alexandre Dumas's "The Three Musketeers", as opposed to a classic fairy or folk tale; the first one was Pinocchio (1992).
In the original Alexandre Dumas novel, Constance Bonacieux is the wife of the innkeeper and d'Artagnan falls in love with her, in this version, Constance is made the daughter of the innkeeper to make the romance between she and d'Artagnan kid-friendly.
Part of Golden Films' second wave of "Animated Classics", which included Aladdin (1992), Pinocchio (1992), The Three Musketeers (1992), Sinbad (1992), Thumbelina (1992), Beauty and the Beast (1992) and The Little Mermaid (1992).
This wouldn't be the first time Cam Clarke voiced d'Artigan, as in Four Musketurtles (1989), Leonardo (also voiced by Clarke) suffers amnesia and believes himself to be d'Artigan.
