Great movie - worth watching
Waking Madison is an amazing film. It was a long journey that writer and director Katherine Brooks allowed her fans to take with her. But it was worth every minute of it. As it is worth every second to watch this movie. It will take you deep into the psyche of a woman close to the edge. And in the end, you won't be satisfied if you watch the movie only once. Because it will leave you pondering and thinking for hours afterwards. At least for me, that was the case.
The actresses' performances are great. Sarah really becomes Madison and while you're watching the movie, you will feel her pain, her confusion and suffering. And Elisabeth makes you feel, as if you are truly able to feel safe with her character- even though during the movie, you might think, that she is so different to any other therapist portrayed in other movies. The other actresses are acting great as well - I, personally, loved the character Angel (Wendy Glenn) the most. Even though the parts of the movie, that play in the hospital reminded me a lot of the movie Girl, interrupted. Which is not a bad thing, of course.
The filming is done very well as well. Not only the actresses and the story itself pull you into Madison's mind, but also the flow of the camera and the art of the pictures, the colors and symbols. That is another reason to watch the movie again - to see all the things, you haven't discovered the first time.
Waking Madison is different to Loving Annabelle - but it still has Katherine Brooks' personal touch to it. A lot of it! If you're one of her followers, you will see a lot of her in the movie - which is a great thing. If you're new to her films, make sure to learn more about this great director. It's worth just as much, as watching this movie.
