Excellent Season-Opener
This is an excellent opening-season episode, one which grabs you right away and keeps you riveted all the way. It's a no-nonsense, stop-the-terrorists story and a tense one, at that.
It involves a mission beginning in the Pakistan-Afganistan border where our main heroes, "Jonas Blane" (Dennis Haysbert) and "Bob Brown" (Scott Foley) are underground. The meet with a female CIA agent who has been there underground for over two years and is dying with smallpox. Through her, "Colonel Tom Ryan" (Robert Patrick) and the team back home find out what the terrorist plan is. The problem, of course, is can they stop these guys before unleashing this biologic attack on the U.S., bringing the smallpox on board different airplanes?
The secondary home-front story will be of particular interest to those who saw the entire first year. It picks up with Mac and Tiffy on the last day at the base for "change of station" and it involves involves a small boy at the base who has big problems. When it's stated the boy only trusts Tiffy you know it is he who will make her change her mind and the two of them will stay. When it happens at the end, it's certainly no surprise.
However, the military story here takes precedence in both time and substance on this episode and it's good to see everyone in action again. I believe this is one of the best on television. I'm watching it through DVDs - the only way to watch TV, as far as I'm concern....if you can wait for these discs to come out each fall.
