Keine Insel – Die Palmers Entführung 1977

Warning: Spoilers
A very interesting documentary from Austrian director Alexander Binder about the kidnapping of industrialist Walter Palmer in November 1977. This operation was aimed to obtain money for the leftist (terrorist) movements 2.Juli and RAF. Witnesses and participants of the "Palmers Entführung" are telling their stories in this documentary. It mainly focuses on the then young students and main Austrian perpetrators Thomas Gratt and Othmar Kepplinger, who at some point at their lives thought, they were acting out of honourable political motives and then found themselves being involved in one of the most infamous crimes in Austria's 1970s. The style of "Keine Insel – Die Palmers Entführung 1977" is very simple, the camera rarely moves, only "listens" while the people talk about their past. In between there are TV documents of the contemporary reporting. A thing that was very interesting were the thoughts about their actions from today's point of view, they could have been a little bit more extensive.
