Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is swept away and killed by a massive tidal wave; his dead body is seen in the water. Two die in two perilous explosions which kills them; a man is attacked, has his face mask cracked and then begins struggling for air but survives. Intense sequences, but very little violence at all.
  • A fight scene with no blood shown. Astronauts fight, one pushing another off a cliff, and the two wrestle in their space suits. One cracks the visor of the other's helmet, hoping to murder him. He survives by breathing in less air. The wringling and withering of the astronaut with the cracked visor is intense, and some might expect some physical deterioration, but none is shown, and the character survives.
  • A character is killed without blood or violence. A character is killed after being thrashed around by a giant wave of water. His body is shown floating in the water later on.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The goodbye scene between Cooper and young Murph (early on in the movie when he decides to take on the mission) is emotionally excruciating. She begs him to stay but then refuses to speak to him when it is revealed he doesn't know when he will return. When he finally leaves she runs out of the house calling "Dad!", but she is too late and he has already driven off.
  • The ending is by far the saddest scene. Cooper visits Murph in the hospital when she is old and dying, and they have a moment together. Very likely to make viewers cry.
  • When Cooper is stuck in a tesseract (5th dimension) which is home to time and space, he watches himself leave Murph's room while Murph is crying in her bed, While Cooper is watching his past he begins to cry, shout and say "don't let me leave Murph" knowing he should have regretted his decision, this scene may be intense or emotional for some viewers
  • A character driven mad by isolation tries to kill another character, but fails. He eventually dies of an explosion.
  • Two spaceships are sent into a black hole, an astronaut is in one of them. Some viewers would expect that he would be killed, but he survives.
  • A life or death situation is intense. A man attempts to murder another man in a fight scene. The victim's helmet is cracked and he is seen suffocating on a foreign planet, writhing around; he is ultimately saved.
  • A character causes a space station to depressurize, despite warnings from another character, which implodes and kills him instantly. A large explosion erupts from the spacecraft and is shown from a distance. If you are watching this in IMAX or in a high volume on a surround sound system, the incident may cause a jump scare to younger audiences.
