The argument caused between Peter and his family by his dislike of The Godfather (1972) has basis in real life. Series creator Seth MacFarlane (who also voices Peter) is one of the only people on the staff who doesn't like the movie.
While explaining the family history, Peter says that Nate Griffin was only a slave name, with his real name being Richard Bachman. Richard Bachman is the pseudonym used at times by Stephen King for his novels.
If we would assume that Peter's story about Nate Griffin is real, it would mean that Peter and Lois are actually related.
