- Christopher Henderson: [Holds Jack at gunpoint] Hold it, Jack! Now lower your arms, real slow, and turn around! You weren't ever really gonna let me go, were you?
- Jack Bauer: No.
- Christopher Henderson: [Tries to shoot Jack, but the trigger clicks empty] Good for you, Jack.
- [pause, untill Jack approaches Henderson]
- Jack Bauer: You were responsible for the deaths of David Palmer, Tony Almeida, and Michelle Dessler. They were friends of mine.
- [pause]
- Christopher Henderson: That's the way it works.
- [Jack shoots Henderson dead]
- Jack Bauer: [Phone Conversation] Yeah?
- Mike Novick: The President has just notified Secret Service he's going to be delayed.
- Jack Bauer: How long?
- Mike Novick: He didn't say, but Mrs. Logan knows we need as much time as possible. Jack... if Logan doesn't confess... how far are you actually willing to go?
- Jack Bauer: As far as I have to.
- Jack Bauer: [Over a radio beacon] Petty Officer Rooney, my name is Jack Bauer, I'm with the Counter Terrorist Unit in los Angeles
- Tim Rooney: [while checking on a surveillance monitor] what the hell is going on sir? Everyone's dead and there are people in the control room trying to operate the missile launch system, who the hell are they?
- Jack Bauer: Their Russian separatists: they are the terrorist group responsible for the attacks that took place earlier today
- Tim Rooney: Does the Navy know about this?
- Jack Bauer: Yeah, their sending in fighters but I don't think they're going to get here in time
- Tim Rooney: So what are we suppose to do?
- Jack Bauer: Did anyone from your crew survive the attack?
- Tim Rooney: No, I don't think so
- Jack Bauer: Where are you?
- Tim Rooney: Lower level: auxiliary engineering. I was down here doing an inventory when the alarm went off, atmospheric gages redlined, it's a sealed compartment, so I shut it down
- Jack Bauer: The men that attacked the sub, were they wearing gas masks?
- Tim Rooney: They were but they took them off a few minutes ago
- Jack Bauer: Ok good. That means they flushed the Sentox nerve gas out of the air system, you should be able to move around freely, do you have a firearm?
- Tim Rooney: No, the armory is on the other side of the sub
- Jack Bauer: You need to find something you can use as a weapon
- Tim Rooney: I have a utility tool: it has a knife on it
- Jack Bauer: That'll work, I want you to make your way up to the upper level, let me know when you get there
- Tim Rooney: You still haven't told me what it is you wanted me to do
- Jack Bauer: I need you to get to the forward escape hatch and let us in
- Tim Rooney: There's a man there guarding it
- Jack Bauer: You're going to have to kill him
- Tim Rooney: [Nervously] I'm an engineer, I'm not trained for that
- Jack Bauer: The men that commandeered The Natalia plan to use its missiles to launch on civilian targets unless we stop them. You need to make your way up to the upper level, you need to do it now, and we're running out of time
- Mike Novick: We're generating a list of "potential" targets but frankly we have no idea where Bierko plans to hit
- President Charles Logan: Are we evacuating these "potential" targets?
- Mike Novick: We don't have time: the missiles will strike before we can even mobilize a small number of people into the safe zones
- President Charles Logan: How could this happen? How could these people even "access" a submarine in the first place?
- Mike Novick: The sub was attacked when it was being serviced at a civilian port: not at a naval base where security would have been more "substantial"
- President Charles Logan: There has to be a way to destroy that sub before Bierko can launch these missiles
- Mike Novick: [while pointing to a monitor] the F-18's are scrambling as we speak. According to the latest estimates, they're not going to get there in time
- Jack Bauer: [Over a radio beacon] what's your position son?
- Tim Rooney: I'm thirty feet from the forward hatch
- Jack Bauer: Have you got a visual of the hostile guarding the hatch?
- Tim Rooney: Yeah, his still there: what'd you need me to do?
- Jack Bauer: You need to kill him without alerting the others, are you right handed or left handed?
- Tim Rooney: I'm right handed
- Jack Bauer: I want you to approach him from behind, when your within eighteen inches, I want you take your left hand, put it on his mouth, pull his head back into your chest, exposing his neck, then I want you to take your right hand and slit his throat
- Tim Rooney: [Nervously] oh my God
- Jack Bauer: You need to cut deep to severe the vocal cord and the carotid artery
- Tim Rooney: I don't know if I can do this
- Jack Bauer: You don't have a choice son: you need to focus on the "objective." You cannot afford to think about this son, you need to do it
- Tim Rooney: Ok, I can do this. I have to do this
- Jack Bauer: Cut him deep and cut him fast
- President Charles Logan: We're certain the missiles are no longer a threat?
- Mike Novick: Yes, we have complete control over the boat: Vladimir Bierko and all of his known associates are dead or in custody
- President Charles Logan: So then it's all over?
- Mike Novick: It's over
- President Charles Logan: I need to make a statement before I go back to Washington
- Mike Novick: About the successful resolution to this crisis?
- President Charles Logan: Yes, and about David Palmer
- Mike Novick: Sir?
- President Charles Logan: David's casket is being flown to Arlington, I would like to say a few words along side of it at the airfield, and then I'll fly back to Washington
- Mike Novick: I'll get to work on it right away
- President Charles Logan: Good, thank you... for everything. It's been a hell of a day
- Mike Novick: Yes Sir, it has
- President Charles Logan: [Over the phone] the mission to retake the submarine has been successful
- Graem Bauer: So I understand
- President Charles Logan: You'll also be interested to know Christopher Henderson has been killed in the operation
- Graem Bauer: You're certain of this?
- President Charles Logan: CTU has confirmed the information
- Graem Bauer: That's excellent but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that's the end of our problems: there's Bauer to deal with
- President Charles Logan: Don't worry, Mr. Bauer will be taken care of
- Aaron Pierce: Mike, over here
- Mike Novick: [Seeing him bloodied] Aaron, what happened to you?
- Aaron Pierce: Agent Adams just tried to kill me: President's orders
- Mike Novick: It doesn't make any sense. Where's Agent Adams?
- Martha Logan: [after Aaron opens the trunk to a car and reveal the Adams' body] Mike, we need your help
- Mike Novick: [to both of them] my God, the hell's going on here? The President had something to do with this?
- Martha Logan: Everything, he was involved in everything that's happened today. Supplying the terrorists with the nerve gas, the murder of David Palmer
- Mike Novick: Walt Cummings?
- Martha Logan: Walt was their scapegoat. He didn't commit suicide, he was murdered by a man that works for Charles. Charles told me to be quiet for the good of the country: keep my mouth shut, I can't do that anymore
- Mike Novick: Do you have proof?
- Aaron Pierce: Jack Bauer was in possession of a recording that implicated the President. That's why Logan was willing to go so far to shooting a plane full of people down because Jack was on it
- Mike Novick: Where is this recording?
- Aaron Pierce: It's been destroyed. I didn't want to believe it either but it's the truth so help me God
- Mike Novick: Alright, if this is true, we're going to need to find another way to make a case against the President
- Martha Logan: Your right, first we have to get Aaron off the ranch. There can't be a record of it
- Mike Novick: We need to move fast, I know the man at the western gate well, he won't stop and inspect the vehicle if I'm driving
- Martha Logan: Thank you Mike
- Jack Bauer: [Over the cell phone] I know this is an unusual request but I've been trying to reach Aaron Pierce, I've been trying to reach him on his cell but his not answering
- Mike Novick: [after turning the phone on speaker] Aaron's here with me right now
- Mike Novick: It's alright Jack, you can speak freely in front of Mike: he knows what I know
- Jack Bauer: Aaron, where are you?
- Aaron Pierce: Few miles from the ranch
- Jack Bauer: What happened?
- Aaron Pierce: The President tried to have me killed but Mrs. Logan saved my life. She and I decided to bring Mike into this
- Mike Novick: I'm still trying to process everything they told me: it's a real mess Jack
- Jack Bauer: Mike, I'm calling Aaron because I need his help, I need yours too
- Mike Novick: Help with what?
- Jack Bauer: Bringing President Logan to justice
- Mike Novick: Aaron said the recording you had implicating the President has been destroyed, is that true?
- Jack Bauer: Yes
- Mike Novick: Without it, you can't mount a case
- Jack Bauer: Not if I can get a direct confession from Logan. I'm working with someone inside CTU, their setting up a digital uplink, if I can get Logan to acknowledge everything that he's done today, it's going to be all the evidence we need
- Mike Novick: Jack, if you intend to physically coerce the President of the United States...
- Jack Bauer: [Interrupts him] Mike, we need to do this now. The longer we wait, the more vulnerable we are, President Logan tried to take me out, just like he did Aaron. I don't need to remind you that he was responsible for David Palmer's assassination and a terrorist attack on this country's soil. He cannot be allowed to remain in Office, not for one more day
- Mike Novick: How long will it take for you to get here?
- Jack Bauer: Twenty minutes
- Mike Novick: That's too late: President Logan will be gone. His leaving for Washington around that time
- Jack Bauer: You have to try to delay him
- Mike Novick: I'm not sure I can do that
- Jack Bauer: Mike, just tell me you'll try
- Karen Hayes: [after hanging up the phone while in her office] Homeland's ordered me back to Washington as soon as file the Bierko case: apparently the "request" came from the White House
- Bill Buchanan: Logan's looking for an excuse to "clean house", I'm sure I'll be next
- Karen Hayes: [to Chloe, after she knocks on the door] come in
- Karen Hayes: Yes Chloe, do you have something?
- Chloe O'Brian: I need access to a high clearance work station
- Bill Buchanan: You already have access
- Chloe O'Brian: It's for new personnel
- Karen Hayes: [Stands up from her desk] what?
- Bill Buchanan: [after looking at the file] Morris? You're bringing Morris back?
- Chloe O'Brian: Yes
- Bill Buchanan: Why Chloe?
- Chloe O'Brian: Because I'm still trying to salvage something from the recording Miles erased. If anyone can do it, it's Morris
- Bill Buchanan: I didn't even think Morris was on the government payroll anymore
- Chloe O'Brian: His not
- Bill Buchanan: What's he doing?
- Chloe O'Brian: Selling women's shoes in Beverly Hills
- Bill Buchanan: What?
- Karen Hayes: Is this a joke?
- Chloe O'Brian: No, you know I wouldn't brought him in if there was anyone else I could call, please Mr. Buchanan?
- Chloe O'Brian: [after Bill signs the request, before leaving] thank you
- Karen Hayes: Bill?
- Bill Buchanan: It's going to be alright
- Karen Hayes: Who is this guy?
- Bill Buchanan: Morris O'Brian, Chloe's ex-husband
- Martha Logan: Is Aaron safe?
- Mike Novick: Yes
- Martha Logan: Thank God
- Martha Logan: [while watching news coverage of the preparations for Palmer's funeral] I can't believe Charles is going to do this: he has David's blood on his hands, he has the audacity to eulogize him in front of the whole world
- Mike Novick: I said earlier there was no case to be made against your husband, I was wrong. Jack Bauer, a former CTU agent, contacted Aaron and me, his on his way here now
- Martha Logan: What for?
- Mike Novick: His going to confront your husband directly
- Martha Logan: Confront him? Will he hurt him?
- Mike Novick: Jack Bauer will do whatever it takes to compel your husband to confess the truth, he's the only one I know who can do this
- Martha Logan: When will he be here?
- Mike Novick: Fifteen minutes
- Martha Logan: But Charles is leaving for the airfield: immediately
- Mike Novick: I know, I tried to delay him myself but he wouldn't change his schedule, that's why I'm coming to you. I need you to keep him here. If you want your husband brought to justice, this is our only chance. You have to find a way to stall him
- Martha Logan: I saw on your schedule your meeting David Palmer's casket at the airfield
- President Charles Logan: If you came here to judge me, I really don't have time for this
- Martha Logan: No, it's not any of that. I've had time to reflect and I think I owe you an apology
- President Charles Logan: Alright
- Martha Logan: I said some horrible things to you
- President Charles Logan: I've had horrible things said to me before and not by you. But there was one thing you said I can't get over
- Martha Logan: What?
- President Charles Logan: That I broke your heart and that you hated me
- Martha Logan: Well, I wish I could take those words back, I can only ask now you forgive me please?
- President Charles Logan: I don't know how to respond, I never expected you to say anything like this
- Martha Logan: I mean it. I need you to forgive me
- President Charles Logan: You need it now. You know how you are, tomorrow I could be the man you hate again
- Martha Logan: I know. It'll take time for me to prove myself to you. The truth is: even though sometimes I don't understand you, I still need you. I still love you and that will never change: not tomorrow, not ever
- President Charles Logan: I need you too
- President Charles Logan: [Seductively] fly with me to Washington. We can spend some time together
- Jack Bauer: [Meeting privately] good to see you, was Mike able to delay the President?
- Aaron Pierce: His trying but he had to ask Mrs. Logan for some help
- Jack Bauer: The First lady knows what we intend to do?
- Aaron Pierce: She does
- Jack Bauer: Can she be trusted?
- Aaron Pierce: She is with us: a hundred percent
- Jack Bauer: Can you still get access to the Secret Service deployment grid?
- Aaron Pierce: I already have, the way security's been "beefed up" around the main building, there's no way you're going to be able to get Logan alone there
- Jack Bauer: Is Marine One going to take him to the airfield?
- Aaron Pierce: No, this was last minute. Their transporting him by a "reduced detachment", their using a Navy helicopter
- Jack Bauer: That's why this has to happen, I need to get on that chopper
- Aaron Pierce: I don't see how that's possible
- Jack Bauer: You get me as close as possible to that chopper and we'll figure it out from there
- Aaron Pierce: Alright, let's go
- Admiral Kirkland: [Through video phone] I understand your reporting some kind of emergency at the Port of Los Angeles?
- Audrey Raines: In anticipation of today's treaty with the Russians, the Russian submarine The Natalia stopped here for inspection by the US Navy
- Admiral Kirkland: I'm familiar with the exercise, I authorized it myself
- Audrey Raines: Terrorists seized control of that submarine
- Admiral Kirkland: What? We haven't received any distress signal from the crew
- Audrey Raines: Because their dead sir: all of them, including the Russian crew. We believe the terrorists flooded the ventilation system with Sentox nerve gas
- Admiral Kirkland: My God
- Audrey Raines: Sir, I don't mean to preempt your protocols, how long will it take you to scramble a flight of F-18's?
- Admiral Kirkland: You're asking me to sink the submarine?
- Audrey Raines: These terrorists are in control of twelve multiple warhead missiles which they will use against civilian targets unless we stop them first
- Admiral Kirkland: I'll need all of this confirmed
- Audrey Raines: We have a team on the ground that can confirm but now I need to know precisely how long will it take for you to scramble these fighters?
- Admiral Kirkland: I'm sending you the estimated approach vectors and ETA for the F-18's. I'll have my fighter jets there in twenty two to twenty five minutes
