- TriviaA Medulla shot is a technique used by snipers to take out a target that is either holding hostages at gunpoint or is holding the detonator to a bomb; it targets a very specific part of the brain, the area where the Medulla oblongata connects to the spinal cord. Normally when a head shot is taken the brain sends out panic signals upon undergoing severe trauma that causes all of the muscles in the body to contract, if the target has their finger on a trigger or a detonator button it will often cause the finger to contract and fire the gun or set off the bomb. The Medulla shot is designed to prevent that from happening; the Medulla oblongata is located in the brainstem, it is responsible for autonomic (involuntary) functions such as muscle spasms. When a bullet penetrates the Medulla it severs its connection with the spinal cord, thereby preventing nerve impulses sent out by the brain from reaching the rest of the body; this in turn makes it impossible for the target's finger muscles to contract during death and pulling a trigger or pushing a button. The easiest way to make the Medulla shot is when the target is facing the sniper, the sniper aims directly at the target's mouth, the bullet enters through the mouth and exits through the back of the throat going directly through the Medulla before exiting out the back of the neck.

out on DVD?
Anybody know if this series will ever come out on DVD, or will it not b/c it was canceled??? I really enjoyed this show, and was upset that it was canceled 13 episodes into the series. If anyone has any info on the series, the release date or so on please let me know. I'll be anxiously awaiting! I know there were many other fans, it did come from the best drama producers, Dick Wolf... I'm really curious as to why the show was canceled, assuming there were few viewers, it still produced many, on Friday nights. Hoping someone will comment back soon, thanks and a Happy New Years to all. Stay out of the cold :) Thanks for any information!
