Co-founder of UK production company behind Peep Show and Fresh Meat to target horror film-making.
Objective Productions’ Michael Vine has stepped down as a director of the company he co-founded to concentrate on a career in movie production.
Vine, who set up the All3Media-owned indie alongside Andrew O’Connor in 1996, told Screen’s sister magazine Broadcast that although it was “emotional” to leave Objective, it was the right time to step aside.
“I leave it in the hands of Andrew Newman. When he came here [in 2009] I had to pinch myself because working with such a talent was a privilege,” said Vine.
“I think things will only get better under Discovery and Liberty. To be owned by people sympathetic to what you do is a real advantage, as opposed to faceless men of the city.”

Caroline revisits each of the Being Human series finales and finds out what they tell us about the show's evolution...
This feature contains spoilers.
If there’s one thing (and we all know there were many) that Being Human did brilliantly, it was series finales. With such a short run each year, there was often the perfect build-up to explosive conclusions that always brought the best elements of the show to the forefront.
Now that we know for sure that there’ll be no more Being Human series finales, why don’t we take one last look back at the brilliant episodes we were given over its five year run? We had Old Ones, romance, dastardly villains and episodes of The Real Hustle, but how did they compare to each other and what can they tell us about the evolution of the show?

Review Caroline Preece Feb 3, 2013
A new trinity, a new villain, and a brand new series of Being Human. Here's Caroline's review of episode one...
This review contains spoilers. Read our spoiler-free review, here.
5.1 The Trinity
There’s a big shake-up in the Being Human cast this year, as we all know, and the biggest test for this fifth series premiere was always going to be proving that the current trio, Hal, Tom and Alex, could live up to the legacy left by Mitchell, George and Annie. We had a soft reboot last season, but some fans seemed far from won over, so we had to wait and see what Toby Whithouse and his writers would be able to do with an entirely new supernatural trinity living in Honolulu Heights.
Just from watching this premiere, the signs are good, but it’s also clear that this incarnation of Being Human isn...

Here’s a rather nice exclusive to start the week as we can announce that Jason Mewes and Roxanne Pallett are to co-lead the forthcoming horror film, Devil’s Tower, currently shooting in Derbyshire.
You’ll know Mewes from his brilliant work in Kevin Smith’s films from the View Askewniverse and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and seeing him take a leading role in a British movie is a very interesting move.
Pallett has been a long-standing star of Emmerdale, and most recently appeared in the BBC’s Waterloo Road, and this should be a great role for her to break through on the big screen.
Starring alongside them will be the Tony Award-winning Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables), Jessica Jane Clement (The Real Hustle), Peter Barrett (UFO, Jack Falls), Jazz Lintott (UFO, Airborne), and Emma Buckley (How to Stop Being a Loser), in her first principal role.

Just when you think you know a guy, he turns up in mid-19th century England with a mustache, no shirt on, and human blood running from his chin to his waistline. This week’s episode of Being Human certainly gave us a glimpse at the old, non-reformed vampire Hal (Damien Molony) and it wasn’t pretty. Oh, and we also learned that he’s an Old One—that sect of super ancient, super nasty bloodsuckers whom everyone fears. Not exactly the kind of monster you’d want taking care of a baby, especially the savior of the world. Below,...

Look through Mario Mugan’s Big Brother profile and you’d be forgiven for thinking that he’s just a normal lad, Big Brother superfan and all round pretty sound guy.
He touts himself as being unemployed and the proud owner of the Big Brother 7 diary room chair. What he didn’t mention is that he is a complete and utter wannabe and has previously appeared on ‘The Sunday Night Project’ and ‘The Real Hustle.’
On his StarNow ad Mario wrote:
Passionate, sexy, cheeky Italian dedicated to my craft. Love Acting, Modeling and having fun. I think it’s about time the men gave the women a run for their money in the supermodel stakes. Move over Kate and Naomi, the time of the male supermodel has dawned
He added:
Previous Modeling experience, highly photogenic and receptive to direction. Imaginative with poses and can switch to edgy editorial to commercial per shot.
