On Monday, June 17, authorities arrested Justin Timberlake for a Dwi after he blew a stop sign. According to police reports, the 43-year-old appeared glassy-eyed and smelled of alcohol as he swerved along a road in the wealthy Hamptons enclave of Sag Harbor. He refused a breathalyzer, producing a somber mugshot the next morning. Timberlake is due in court again on July 26, which will likely require canceling his world tour appearance in Poland on the same day.

The singer, songwriter, and actor had managed to mostly distance himself from scandal for several years before his arrest. But this incident lands Timberlake squarely back in the spotlight. The “SexyBack” singer isn’t the first pop star to face a Dwi arrest, however.

Late singer-songwriter Aaron Carter’s son Prince has filed a lawsuit against doctors and pharmacies for wrongful death of the late pop star. The lawsuit – filed by Aaron Carter’s former fiancee Melanie Martin on behalf of their son, 23 months – claims that doctors prescribed the singer hydrocodone, oxycodone and alprazolam with “no medical justification”, reports People magazine.
The lawsuit also claims that doctors and pharmacies, including Walgreens, were aware of Aaron’s “mental health and psychiatric condition” – and prescribed him the medication anyway in inconsistent quantities, leading to his death in November of last year.
Melanie, who is suing for damages, had no comment.
As per People, the ‘I Want Candy’ singer was found in his bathtub at his California home at the time of his death. He died weeks before Prince’s first birthday. Carter died from accidental drowning after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam on November 5, 2022, the Los...

While Fentanyl now dominates headlines as the drug wreaking havoc on our society, back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was OxyContin that led conversations about the impact of overprescribed opioids. Formulated, produced, marketed and sold by the family-run organization Purdue Pharma, Oxy quickly grew in popularity because it was marketed as a safe, “non-addictive” opioid. Oxy was then pushed onto patients through respected healthcare professionals who were misinformed about the drug and profited greatly from prescribing it.
Barry Meier’s book “Pain Killer” and the New Yorker article “The Family That Built the Empire of Pain,” by Patrick Radden Keefe, documented the rise of OxyContin and the lasting impact it had here in the U.S., and both serve as the foundation for Netflix’s new limited series “Painkiller.” Directed by Peter Berg, the show is a fictionalized account of the opioid epidemic as told from the perspective of the survivors,...

Aaron Carter’s death has been ruled an accident, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
The late singer and younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was found dead on Nov. 5 at the age of 34. At the time, no cause of death was given, but according to an autopsy report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Carter’s manner of death was an accident, caused by drowning and the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.
The toxicology report found the presence of difluoroethane, a gas commonly used in air spray cleaners for electronic devices that can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled, the report explained. Alprazolam, on the other hand, can have depressant effects, which can cause drowsiness and sedation, according to the coroner.

The “Dancing with the Stars” two-night Halloween event started with the “Juniors” on Sunday night. The kids’ fright fest brought out breakthrough performances from a couple of rising contestants, while another early favorite “descended” on the leaderboard and we cried boo-hoo over the elimination at the end of the night. So who do you think gave the best performances, who gave the worst performances, and did the judges and studio audience get it right with the season’s fifth elimination?
As you might have guessed above, it was Alana Thompson — aka Honey Boo Boo from the reality series “Toddlers and Tiaras” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” — who was eliminated when Halloween Night was over. Her scores had improved slightly since week one, and she seemed to have the support of the studio audience, so it looked like she had a ghost of a chance to advance pretty far in the competition.

“Aaron has taken care of the legal and financial matters that required his attention and returned to the wellness facility to complete his program,” Honig told People on Saturday. The 29-year-old entered the facility on Saturday evening, his rep confirmed.

You don't need to be a perfect show to produce a perfect scene – and tonight episode of The Deuce (titled "What Kind of Bad?") proved it. The problems that keep David Simon and George Pelecanos's behemoth of a period piece from reaching escape velocity are all still there, to be sure. But in one confrontation between two streetwise characters, damn if the thing didn't finally take off.
The set-up for the sequence is doled out through bite-sized, simplistic scenes across the rest of the episode, in typical Deuce fashion.

What a year in rock music! There, I said it. Too much to take in. Like a rowboat taking in more water than I can bail out. I keep getting new music recommended to me by friends, publicists, old lovers, dudes on subways, songs blasting in hipster boutiques; freakin' new music was everywhere. I got tipped to U.K. acts such as punk rockers Sleaford Mods, poetry rapper Kate Tempest, and folkster Jake Bugg; there was a new pop rock opus by Dan Wilson, and soulful Brooklynite Selena Garcia, and much more. I could barely compile my "best of/favorites of 2014" list knowing that I'll probably discover even more music after I've completed it. But here goes...my ten favorite tracks from 2014, a few essential reissues, and my ten favorite albums, yes, albums, like on real heavy duty vinyl, with two sides and everything.

Made in Chelsea was back with another slice of action from SW17 this week, and there was plenty going on. From the repeated use of the word "gutted" to Lucy and Proudlock's adventures in romance, it's hard to know where to start... but we've brought you our 21 best bits!
1. The bit when... Sam was Jamie's "bitch".
Some of the bois were playing rugby, but they got a little thirsty. Never fear, for Jamie's new intern is on speed dial - and it's Sam. He vowed to bring the bois some orange slices ("I'll be bringing joy and happiness with me"; "And a rainbow. Bring that."). We weren't sure this was a proper internship but Jamie did say he was a mentor and pulled this face, so we're convinced.
Anyway, Sam is actually an excellent intern who showed up congratulating the bois on a "good game" and standing like a perfect statue.

Making a good mix tape takes some skill. Making a great mix tape is a work of art. In order to make a great mix you need to listen to a wide range of artists. You also need to consider the audience. In other words, who are you making the mix for? It’s always smart to select music that you are guaranteed meets the tastes of the listener, but it also good to experiment and include some tracks that they may have never heard otherwise. Creating a message with the mix is also a plus, and I personally love to add tons of movie clips as an added bonus. There has to be a specific flow as well. Pacing is essential in creating a mood (or moods), but you don’t want any of the juxtapositions to be too jarring. And as with any form of editing, you need...

Happy 4th of July, my fellow Americans! Been a terrific six months for new music. Below are some of my favorite album releases that deserve early kudos at the half-way mark.
The War on Drugs: Lost in the Dream (Secretly Canadian)
Six months in and the Philly-based quartet The War on Drugs' third long player -- Lost in the Dream -- is their best and one of the best releases of 2014. Even with Kurt Vile leaving in 2011 for solo frontiers, Adam Granduciel soldiered on with his bandmates and crafted a superb album. Even with most of the songs clocking in over five minutes in length, and even with a rather pedestrian video (above), "Red Eyes" remains one of the catchiest indie rock tunes this side of New Order! The galloping guitar break is just sublime. Pick it up today!

One of last year’s very best new series was Starz‘s Da Vinci’s Demons. Starz agreed with that assessment and awarded it a second season almost immediately. We haven’t heard much about that second season since Starz released a trailer and some pics back in October.
But the wait for more is over. Starz has now released a really excellent “closer look” trailer, along with a press release and premiere date. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 22 at 9/8c and the nine weeks that follow. If the new and former trailers below are any indication, we have a lot of great Renaissance TV coming our way again this spring.
