"Mayor of Kingstown" is returning with a second season to Paramount+, and we've got all the information you need about the continuing story of the town with far too many prisons. The Taylor Sheridan/Hugh Dillon show is back after a major prison riot, and a very harrowing incident with a wild animal that will change things going forward for Mike McLusky and his family. The series stars Jeremy Renner ("Hawkeye") as Mike, who, along with his brother Kyle (Taylor Handley), is working within the prison industrial complex to change things. That's a rough job, and after a riot, everything is about to change for the town of Kingston, Michigan, and its inhabitants.

YouTube is upping its play for cord-cutters: The video platform has released dozens of full seasons of about 100 TV shows — nearly 4,000 episodes in all — available to stream for free with ads.
The free TV shows are available only to YouTube users in the U.S. The lineup includes Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares,” “Andromeda,” “Heartland,” “Scream Queens,” “Unsolved Mysteries,” “Sanctuary,” “Hidden Palms,” “21 Jump Street,” “Iron Chef,” “Brewster Place” and “Are We There Yet?”
YouTube’s addition of the licensed TV shows marks a bigger move to compete with free, ad-supported television (Fast) rivals like Paramount’s Pluto TV, Fox’s Tubi and Amazon’s IMDb TV.

Calendar-wise, summer doesn't begin for another few weeks. As far as the TV business is concerned, though, summer began at 11:01 p.m. on Wednesday night, when the 2015-16 network TV season officially ended. The break used to be a little cleaner, but as cable and streaming outlets premiere shows year-round, and as the broadcast networks have become a bit less bound to the rules of the calendar, there's more overlap than ever before. HBO's dynamite Sunday lineup has another month to go, late spring broadcast premieres for shows like Person of Interest and Houdini & Doyle mean they have a few more weeks in them, and the next few months will see a mix of new and returning scripted material across every kind of TV provider there is in 2016. The next few days, weeks, and months will feature the return of some of the best shows on television, including UnREAL (Lifetime,...

Amber Heard, to put it simply, is one of the sexiest women alive. Born in Austin, Texas in 1986, the beautiful actress and model embarked on her career in 2004, with roles in television shows Jack & Bobby and The Mountain, as well as movie Friday Night Lights.
Now 28, she has recently been in the news after marrying Johnny Depp. The couple – between whom there is a 23 year age gap – met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2010, but didn’t start dating until 2012 (both of them were in different relationships when they first met) and tied the knot on 4th February of this year. Heard is actually bisexual and had a long term relationship with a woman (photographer Tasya van Ree) prior to her relationship with Depp.

Somehow, when none of us were looking, The CW became the preeminent geek network. I know. I’m as surprised as anyone, but maybe we shouldn’t be. The CW was created when both networks that aired Buffy the Vampire Slayer merged, after all. But still, how did this happen?
The CW launched in 2006 with shows like Gilmore Girls, America’s Next Top Model, Seventh Heaven, and One Tree Hill. Geekish programming had a small foothold on Thursday with Smallville and Supernatural, but the rest was tween girl bait (except for Friday Night Smackdown, aimed at… whoever watches pro wresting). One of their only two new shows was Hidden Palms, a wannabe The O.C. And they continued that way for awhile, making glossy teen soaps like Gossip Girl and 90210.
Contrast that with their current lineup, which includes Star-Crossed, The Tomorrow People, The Originals, Beauty and the Beast, Arrow, The 100,...

He's a 50-year-old superstar who spent 14 years (mostly) happily unwed to his longtime love. She's a 27-year-old actress on the rise whose last relationship was with a woman. Now Johnny Depp and Amber Heard - who only recently started stepping out together publicly - are engaged. What made Depp get so serious so fast? "She's a great match for him and his individuality," says a source who knows Depp. "She's a free spirit." Raised in Texas, Heard has proclaimed her love for shooting guns, driving fast cars (she tools around in a 1968 Mustang) and collecting books, a particular passion of Depp's.

The Mindy Project
According to the Official Fox Description: Created by Emmy-nominated writer/producer and New York Times best-selling author Mindy Kaling (The Office) and starring Kaling, Chris Messina (Damages), Anna Camp (The Good Wife) and newcomer Ed Weeks, The Mindy Project features Kaling as a skilled Ob/Gyn navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life, as she pursues her dreams of becoming the perfect woman, finding the perfect man and getting her perfect romantic comedy ending.
Why We’re Excited: Having already devoured her Tina Fey-esque book (“Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?”), not to mention relished every moment Kelly Kapoor’s talking head popped up in The Office, we’re quite confident that Mindy Kaling’s unique voice will translate quite well to her very own self-titled project.

Last season, we made some predictions as to which lucky actor might play Klaus, "The Vampire Diaries" most-feared villain. Of course, we were way off, because Joseph Morgan didn't even cross our minds, and he's perfection.
Still, we haven't given up on our dream of being the best backseat casting director ever, so we're back with some new suggestions as to who will play the remaining two Originals.
At least, we think there are only two left. If Mama Original bore 7 children, then only two remain to be met, since one died in Europe, Henrik was killed, and we already know Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. Some fans speculate that the first dead kid doesn't count and that Stefan is actually carting around four coffins, including Elijah's. We'll see!

It probably shouldn't have been surprising that last month's Television Critics Association press tour panel for NBC's "The Playboy Club" became an ongoing debate as to whether the period drama was empowering or exploitative. While all of the show's stars and producers were closely on-message about the idea that employment at the Playboy Club in the early '60s was a progressive choice, leading lady Amber Heard was particularly passionate on the subject. [Read more from that panel.] At the NBC party that evening, I caught up with Heard ("Hidden Palms," "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane"), who plays Maureen,...

Did you ever wonder what happened to Zach Stevens on "The O.C." after he skipped his prom to go have dinner with George Lucas... and was never heard from again? We've got some theories, starting with George Lucas kidnapped him, and ending with George Lucas ate him.
While Zach remains M.I.A., the actor behind the character, Michael Cassidy, went on to star in The CW's "Hidden Palms" and "Privileged" -- and can be seen this season on "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea," the Chelsea Handler helmed comedy on NBC, as reported by our friends at TVLine.
Cassidy will star as Chelsea's (Laura Prepon) love interest, a totally handsome Harvard grad whose one flaw -- according to Chelsea -- lies in his very, very red hair. You don't get more ginger than this, kids.

It's NBC's sexed-up (if that's possible) answer to "Mad Men" -- Eddie Cibrian (who you may remember from divorcing Brandi Glanville to eventually marry Leann Rimes) stars as Nick Dalton, a 1960's era entrepreneur who opens the country's first Playboy-themed club in Chicago.
The show also stars Amber Heard ("Hidden Palms," "Pineapple Express") as Bunny Maureen.

Amber Heard's deal to become an NBC "Playboy" Bunny has gone through and she's being joined by an actress with experience in that particular milieu. According to Variety, Naturi Naughton has also been cast in the NBC "Playboy" pilot, which takes place in one of the popular 1960s Playboy clubs. The trade says that Heard will play Maureen, a new hire with "an untethered, unconscious sexuality." We can accept the "Informers" and "Hidden Palms" star in that kind of role. Meanwhile, Naughton will play Brenda, Maureen's roommate and a young woman with aspirations to become the first African-American...

Amber Heard has been approached to play the leading role in the pilot episode of NBC's Playboy, according to Deadline.
The planned drama takes place in Chicago’s Playboy Club in 1963, where Heard could possibly play a saucy new employee.
It has been suggested that Heard’s character could have something of a dark side, be sexually liberated, and come from an orphan background.
Alan Taylor, who also directed AMC’s Mad Men pilot, is on board to direct this Twentieth Century Fox TV and Imagine TV produced project, from Chad Hodge’s script. Hodge will also executive produce with Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.
Heard first came to notice on CW’s television show Hidden Palms in 2007, but is perhaps best known for her roles in Pineapple Express, Never Back Down, and Zombieland (playing Jesse Eisenberg’s love interest).

News today about TV shows you might see next fall...
Amber Heard is in discussions to take one of the lead roles in NBC's drama "Playboy." The drama is set at a Playboy Club in the 1960s; Heard, presumably, will be playing a Bunny in the show created by Chad Hodge ("Tru Calling," "Runaway"). Heard's credits include The CW's "Hidden Palms," "Pineapple Express" and "The Stepfather." [Variety]
ABC has greenlit a bevy of drama pilots, including projects from "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry ("Hallelujah," about a battle between good and evil, with a gospel choir acting as a sort of Greek Chorus) and "Paranormal Activity" director Oren Peli ("The River," about the search for a missing adventurer in the Amazon). "Sex and the City" and "Beverly Hills, 90210" creator Darren Star also got the greenlight for a drama presentation called "Bitches," a soap about a fallen former mean girl in Dallas.

The young starlet, who can be seen next in Drive Angry 3D, is currently looking to play one of the leads in the upcoming drama focusing on the infamous Playboy Clubs at the height of their popularity. NBC picked up the pilot earlier this month, which is being produced jointly between Twentieth Century Fox TV and Imagine TV. If talks are finalized this will be a return to television for the 24 year old actress who was first noticed on the 2007 CW series Hidden Palms. No further details were revealed on what her role might entail. Playboy will be set in the 1960s, during the heyday of the Playboy Club's swinging success. Chad Hodge (Tru Calling) wrote the script, which focuses on a group of women working as Playboy bunnies in the Chicago club. The show will use that as a jumping-off point...

Which Came First — The Chicken Or The Gay Dad?
Last week Out magazine published the results of their Love and Sex Survey and one of the most notable results was the very large generation gap between gay men on the subjects of gay marriage and having children.
While only 51% of those aged 36 to 45 want to get married, 80% of those 18 to 25 want to do so. The gap is even bigger when it comes to having children. While a whopping 70% of those under the age of 25 want little bundles of joy, only 31% of those over 25 are interested in changing diapers. Even though this is Out's first time doing this survey, I'd wager that even ten years ago, the gap wouldn't have been nearly so large.
Coincidentally — or not — this week saw the debut of USA's Fairly Legal, yet another show which includes an out gay man who is a dad. This comes...

Hello, "Vampire Diaries" fans! It's Carina and Tierney, back again -- but this time, we actually agree on something. (There's a first time for everything, right?)
Vampire-Diaries.net dug up the casting call for Klaus, the vampire out for Elena's blood and looking to seek vengeance against Katherine for slipping through his grasp 500 years ago. In order to break the vampire curse and walk in the sun without a ring, Klaus needs to kill not only Elena, but Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline as well.
According to the casting sides, "Klaus is late-20′s to mid-30′s. He's handsome, charming, intelligent, with a sharp wit. He's the only person who can out-Damon Damon. That's because he's got a thousand years on him. Klaus is one of the Originals. Possibly the oldest. But you'd never know it because he keeps up with the times."
Ooh, sounds sexy. We put our heads together...

The summer is now fully here, and with it comes a new batch of summer TV shows –now that networks and cable alike have switched to a varied, year-round schedule that confuses even the professionals in the industry. Among them there are vampires, cops, families trying to fit in and many, many secrets. Of these new summer offerings, almost all of them have already aired –the only exception is Showtime’s The Big C, a show about cancer with Laura Linney that arrives August 16); some have even aired several episodes, so they can barely be called “new”, and some of their plots might have evolved. But I have tried to watch all those series’ pilots to find out what is good, what is bad, what is promising and what might stay or leave soon. Here it is:

Captain America is the next superhero movie in the pipeline for Marvel Studios, and now that they have found a director [1] in Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park 3, The Wolfman) and set a June start date, they are working to locate a leading man, which is no easy task. Who can don the stars and stripes as a buff super soldier and actually make it work? I'm thinking they really need to go with an unknown, but apparently Marvel is considering a number of recognizable names for the role. Deadline Hollywood [2] managed to get a hold of the studio's short list of actors who are considered final candidates, and perhaps the most surprising name on the list is The Office star John Krasinski. Sure, he played an all-American football hero in Leatherheads, but can anyone really see him as a superhero? Other possibilities include Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights...

I’m not sure who exactly was waiting with baited breath for this, but whomever it was should be happy to read this post. To what am I referring? I’m talking about the announcement today that both David Arquette and Courtney Cox are signed up for another chapter in the Scream franchise which, at the moment, carries the clever title Scream 4.
According to Marc Malkin of E! Online, the duo are onboard the new film and, especially in the case of Arquette, thrilled to be doing it. “I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun,” he said in the article.
Also according to Malkin, Kevin Williamson is busy working away on a script which apparently includes all the characters, even...

In a press release sent out yesterday we learned that Showtime Networks Inc. has entered into an exclusive seven-year film distribution arrangement with The Weinstein Company. Oh boy right? Who gives a shit? Well, there are a couple of interesting tidbits in there, primarily the fact that The Weinstein Co. has now grabbed hold of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards, Rob Marshall's Nine is now out of limbo, the remake of David Cronenberg's Scanners is getting the go, Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D has an official home (which it already did) and we learn there will be a Scream 4. Yup, that's right kiddies, they are setting out to "restart" the Scream franchise. Now before you get all up in arms as if this is the worst thing ever because the Scream movies got worse and worse and worse as they went on let me just say that...

As we suspected a few weeks back, CW has cancelled the steamy drama Hidden Palms after a short season of eight episodes. The series finale is set to air this Wednesday (July 4th) at 8pm but will the mystery of poor Eddie's murder be solved? Will viewers be left hanging?
From the mind of Kevin Williamson, who also created Dawson's Creek, this drama centered a group of teens and a mystery in idyllic Palm Springs, CA. Fewer than 1.9 million watched the debut and viewership fell even lower as the weeks went on.
Williamson was well aware that the series might not catch on and wrote the season accordingly. The killer will indeed be revealed in the final episode but, as is the case with most ongoing dramas, not all will be resolved. Williamson said, "We definitely answer a lot of questions, primarily the big one: what really happened to Eddie.

The CW has decided to finish the low-rated drama Hidden Palms two weeks earlier than planned. Fortunately for fans, they'll still get to see all of the filmed episodes -- at least that's the plan right now.
Often compared to The O.C., the drama was conceived by Dawson's Creek creator Kevin Williamson. Palms was originally scheduled to begin airing in early March but was replaced by Pussycat Dolls Present and postponed until May 30th. The drama debuted to disappointing ratings -- fewer than 1.9 million watched. The second episode's viewership dropped to just over 1.5 million.
For now, the CW still plans to air all eight episodes but, the network will burn them off as quickly as possible. Double episodes will air on both June 20th and 27th and the season finale will air on July 4th, a typically little-watched night of television. (Coincidentally, Fox is airing the final two episodes...
