Considering filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro's notoriety amongst genre fans, it's surprising that his earliest works haven't gotten the special edition treatment sooner. Thankfully Criterion seems to agree. The director stopped by the Del Toro Films message board to give fans an update on the eagerly anticipated Cronos Criterion DVD: " Cronos is evolving nicely," says Del Toro. "We are including a Never-seen-before version of Geometria (1987) the short that I made for 1 thousand bucks and that I was never able to finish the way I wanted it. Now I re-finished it for this disc (don't worry, no CGI or fancy stuff) and I like it- I never did before- but now I do." " Cronos has never looked so beautiful," continues Del Toro. "And we...

Don't be dismayed to learn that the Jennifer's Body you see in theaters this weekend won't be the final cut of the film. Director Karyn Kusama told us earlier today that her preferred director's cut will be released on DVD along with the theatrical cut. But, before you decide to stay home, you might want to consider that if you do go to the theater – and contribute to the film's all-important opening weekend box-office gross – you'll be more likely to see a sequel in a few years. "What's that?" you say. "A sequel?!" Hit the jump to read what Kusama says about it. Will there be a special director's cut on the DVD? Yes. It will be a theatrical cut and...

Drawing from a broad range of influences the likes of Boxing Helena, director Atom Egoyan, and the collective works of David Cronenberg, this dirty micro-budgeted little nasty comes front-loaded with a provocative squirm-inducing premise that will no doubt drive strong ancillary business. But randy adolescents open for a thinly veiled skin flick will be largely disappointed. Similarly, those sick to the back teeth of torture porn would do well not to dismiss this as just another bandwagoner, as co-directors Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel have far more on their minds here than simply mining a gimmick for the purposes of titillation.
Penned by bit-part-actor-turned-screenwriter Trent Haaga, a man with a long and undistinguished career acting in the realm of Dtv horror, Deadgirl sketches out an eerily plausible portrait of horny adolescent maledom taken to its grim but logical conclusion. Skipping out on class for the afternoon, high school misfit Rickie...

Fox treated fans to a special director's cut of Glee's months-old premiere episode Wednesday, but it offered only a glimpse of what's to come.
Following the American Idol finale back in May, the shortened version dazzled fans with its quick wit and catchy tunes. The longer version offered longer scenes that hinted more at the future of the show. But we have more details...

It's slightly official: there's more than enough Glee for everyone.
If you're reading this, you've probably seen the pilot last May, and are on the edge of your seat waiting for the second episode to air on September 9. Maybe you're one who missed that pilot, don't understand the hype, and are really curious as to what it's all about. We've explained it in places, sure, but in case you haven't seen the pilot within the past four months--on the telly, or online--you can watch it tonight from 9pm on Fox.

Did you think that the endless barrage of Zombieween II nonsense would stop once the film hit theaters? How naive are you? Now that Zombie's sequel is upon us, we can start talking about the DVD and Blu-ray release - so get ready for months of updating, speculating and self-loathing as we prepare to talk the director's cut of Halloween II.
Dread Central's own Andrew Kasch called in from the Halloween II junket where Rob spoke about his director's cut. He said the focus in his cut rests on Laurie instead of Michael, and how she's a Much more dysfunctional character in the alternate version. Expect 2009's Laurie to be a drug addled, angst ridden mess who couldn't get her life together if she tried. I'm sure they'll be more dysfunction and even more f-bombs if that's even possible. There's also more tension between her and Annie, who've failed to...
