- Cartman dresses up as a robot from Japan, sent to Butters. He tricks him into believing it and can't give away his identity because he finds out Butters has a video of him dancing to Britney Spears and kissing a Justin Timberlake picture! It gets even more out of hand as the military decide to try to capture 'the robot' to make it a weapon.—Mat T
- One day, Butters Storch is surprised to find he's received a crate from Japan. Opening it up, he finds The AWESOM-O 4000, a robot which tells Butters that he will be his new best friend.
AWESOM-O also requests Butter tell it his most personal secrets, leading Butters to revealing he has a herniated colon, and needs medication for this condition. He also tells how there's a boy at school named Eric Cartman who bullies him, but Butters claims he has incriminating evidence of Cartman dressed up as Britney Spears, dancing with a cardboard cutout of Justin Timberlake, and plans to use it on him.
AWESOM-O asks to see the tape, but Butters instead takes him off to do fun stuff, like playing basketball, or going to the movies.
By now, most people have figured out that AWESOM-O is really Eric Cartman in cardboard boxes. Even Butters' parents play along, just happy that their son seems to have a friend. Meanwhile, Cartman has grown more upset that he can't find the tape, eventually looking all over Butters' room, making a mess and leading to Butters spanking him to "teach him a lesson."
Butters is soon scheduled to visit his Uncle Budd and Aunt Nellie in Los Angeles, and Butters' Mom asks Cartman's Mom if he can go. It is confirmed, and soon Butters is off to California with his robot friend!
When they go to a movie studio, some executives see AWESOM-O, and also believing he's a robot, ask him some questions. Impressed by his answers, they soon request that AWESOM-O help them come up with movie ideas. This leads to the studio paying for the many ideas AWESOM-O comes up with (most of them involving Adam Sandler), with Butters happily taking AWESOM-O's earnings and donating them to children in third-world countries (much to Cartman's irritation).
Eventually, the US Military hears about AWESOM-O, and feel he could be better utilized as a Military weapon. They soon capture him from the studio, much to Butters' sadness.
At the base where he's kept, Cartman tries to explain that he's really a boy, leading a scientist to think AWESOM-O thinks he's alive, due to advanced artificial intelligence. The Military Generals don't care, and are intent on drilling into AWESOM-O's head when the scientist frees him.
Cartman is just about to reveal who he really is, when Butters appears, and pleads with the men to not harm his best friend. The men are about to relent, when AWESOM-O suddenly...farts. Cartman tries to claim it' a program, but the smelly odor after it, causes Butters to finally realize the truth.
The episode ends with everyone in South Park, along with the Military Generals, Scientist, and movie studio executives, watching the tape that Butters has of Cartman, and laughing at his antics.
Cartman can only look annoyed, and mutter: "...lame."
