- Martin is wracked with guilt when he fails to prevent Mike (MASAM HOLDEN), a 12-year-old boy, from being dragged into a car outside of the boy's school. Encouraged by Martin's description of the kidnapper, Brian Stone (DYLAN BAKER - "The Elizabeth Smart Story," "Kinsey"), and his vehicle, the team tries to ease Martin's anguish over failing to stop the boy's abduction, even though he jogged by Mike and the kidnapper just moments before the crime occurred.—Anonymous
- Martin Fitzgerald is unduly embarrassed when, walking home from Sam's place, he realizes just too late that a man dragging schoolboy Mike Gerard into his car isn't an authorized educator. Divorced parents Paul Gerard, a mostly absent pilot, and Lynn, who has custody, have no clue who fit the robot picture, recognized by a beat cop whom he told to be an uncle as he regularly accompanied Mike to the library. He's later identified as Brian Stone, a former private elite boys school teacher and former college literature professor, whom the director fired for entertaining schoolboys at home. The team traces his confusing route, during which he took a gas station attendant's gun and cellphone to avoid arrest, and learns of a complex relationship with Mike, and fears Mike may be a 'substitute' for divorced Stone's son who tragically died in the lake near the family's summer cabin. Martin discards protocol to bravely face Brian and increasingly confused Mike.—KGF Vissers
