This show and Candid Camera (1960) were preempted in New York City by WCBS-TV (Channel 2) in favor of a locally-produced hour-long special on the New York City contemporary art scene, "Eye on Art: The Walls Come Tumbling Down". The narrator of this special was Leonard Harris, who in later years would make occasional appearances as a guest panelist on the syndicated What's My Line? (1968).
The Broadway musical 'Hallelujah, Baby!', with lyrics by Comden and Green, had just premiered on April 26, 1967, at the Martin Beck Theatre. The show ran 293 performances and 22 previews, and the writing duo won a Tony Award for 'Best Original Score'.
Betty Comden's writing partnership with Adolph Green, was called "the longest running creative partnership in theatre history" and lasted for six decades, producing some of Hollywood and Broadway's greatest hits. They were never a romantic couple.
Corky Carroll, the first contestant to appear, is considered a pioneer in the sport by becoming the first real professional surfer as well as being the first to make paid endorsements. From 1966 to1970 he won the US Surfing Championship and won the International Surfing Championship three times. After his surfing career, he became a musician and recorded nine albums.
