Grace and Myra Marshall were raised by a minister who was also an abusive father who believed in very strict rules including locking his daughters in the attic. Myra was always the one getting into most of the trouble and was therefore affected more by the rough treatment. When she met Army officer Vern Rothman who also had a proper upbringing, she decided to elope with him to escape her father. Five years later their father has died and Grace upon reading letters from Myra assumes Vern is mistreating Myra decides to join the Hale wagon train to go west to rescue Myra. Duke and Cooper especially find her beautiful and attractive along with the others. When it is time for Grace to leave the wagon train, Coop drives her to the town to look for her sister. Upon arrival they see Vern is the local Marshal who appears to be following the orders of a saloon owner. He tells them where Myra is at but asks them to not help her. Myra immediately asks for money which she uses to satisfy her opium addiction ending up in the saloon. Grace still thinking this is Vern's fault fights to remove Myra who does not want to leave.
