General Savage (Robert Lansing) identifies himself to the Lady of the House (Dana Wynter); and to her housekeeper, as NOT a housebreaker; but a Brigadier General in the United States Air Force! However, at that time (and throughout the entirety of the Second World War); Savage could only have been a General in the United States Army Air Corps USAAC (and later, the US Army Air Forces, USAAF). Not until the National Security Act of 1947 (two years after V.J. Day, September 18) was passed into law, did a United States "Air Force" come into legal existence, as a "Military Department" of the United States, like the Navy and the Army. Until that time, the United States had "no" Air Force.
