- Quotes
Jack Tripper: [comes out of bathroom, greets the two girls, wears something like a Speedo] Morning. How ya doing?
Janet Wood: Aw, gee, do you have to walk around the house in your underwear?
Jack Tripper: This is not underwear. It's my bathing suit. I ran out of clean shorts.
Janet Wood: Oh...
[checks]
Janet Wood: well... in that case, it's all right.
Jack Tripper: Why wasn't it all right before?
Janet Wood: Because before I thought it was your underwear.
Jack Tripper: Yeah, but it's still the same shorts. You can't tell the difference.
Chrissy Snow: [laughter in her voice] I can.
Jack Tripper: How?
Chrissy Snow: Because your underpants have giraffes on them.
Janet Wood: You don't catch us walking around in the apartment in our underwear.
Jack Tripper: You've been too quick for me.
'It's Only Money' is a bright, engaging episode, and worthy viewing for 'Three's Company' fans. One thing must be said, and it's that sometimes it's not necessarily a funny line that gets the biggest laugh, but the reactions of other characters to the line. A case in point: Chrissy saying the only thing of hers worth selling was something she was hoping to save for after marriage. Jack and Janet stare at her in shocked silence. Roper once again gets in a few shots at Helen, and twice Norman Fell does more of his priceless smiling after the lines.
One of the most amusing bits occurs when Jack goes to the dean of his cooking school (William Pierson, making his first appearance in the role) and attempts to get a loan. For a while, the dean can't concentrate because he's far too intrigued by the idea of Jack living with two women. Pierson is a hoot as the dean regards Jack with a big, goofy smile on his own face.
The whole debacle is resolved in an understandable enough fashion, and the kids realize that they really have been getting worked up over nothing. This allows the episode to conclude pleasantly.
Seven out of 10.
