Classic TV Xmas Countdown Episode #24
kgraovac20 December 2023
A shady ticket scalper who also deals in stolen goods offers Ann a chance at scoring hard-to-get theatre tickets. When she buys a pair as an Xmas present for her friends the Bauman's and pays by check (!!!) Donald informs her she has just fallen for the oldest robbery scam in the book. But it's Ann and Don who end up in trouble with the police.

Okay, this one is a big improvement over the dreadfully boring Season 1 Xmas episode. Here, Donald figures prominently in the story and Ann gets to interact with a lot of colorful characters - played by some very reliable character actors.

The "robbery" scene where a witness reports the pair for stealing (they are just transferring the Bauman's valuables to Ann's for safe keeping) is most entertaining: "The girl seems to be the leader". Don is loaded down like a pack mule. Ann's dialog to Donald in this scene as the cops listen in is priceless. Ann's Dad gets in on the action and clocks a detective over the head with a flower pot.

This one is fun to watch every few years. 7/10.

Christmas Scalper

Warning: Spoilers
Ann buys theater tickets from a scalper as Christmas presents for Jerry and Ruthie.

A good Christmas episode. Character comic Herbie Faye plays the scalper. Ann gives him a check with all her info on it, she also mentions the Baumans who live in Apt C. Don tells her that while the Baumans are at the theater, thieves will be robbing their apartment. Funny scenes as Ann and Don take the Baumans things out and they get caught by the cops. Another funny moment is when Ann's father goes to her apartment and thinks a detective (William Bramley, Officer Krupke from West Side Story) is a burglar.
