This version of Blackfire is able to fly. In the original comics, Blackfire was born without the power of flight, and was passed over as heir of Tamaran which was her first reason for viciously despising her younger sister Starfire.
The idea for the Starfire and Blackfire's relationship was inspired by similar to I Dream of Jeannie (1965) and Bewitched (1964) where the main female lead encounters is mischievous dark hared relative played by the same actress. This is why Hynden Walch, who does the voice of Starfire, also provides the voice of Blackfire and why Blackfire's hair is black instead of red like "The New Teen Titans" comics.
The warehouse club has a neon sign that reads SOTO. This is a nod to series director Alex Soto.
Blackfire borrows Starfire's clothes and dons a wig to mimic her red hair. It's so she can fool the Centauri police if they realized two Tamaraneans were on Earth.
Starfire mentions that on her planet fireworks may mean "the Gordanians are attacking." The Gordanians were a lizard race of aliens that would enslave anyone they conquered. Starfire first met the Teen Titans when they rescued her from enslavement by the Gordanians.
