The miners of Silver Lode are excited when the actress Pearl Harvey arrives on the Wells Fargo stage. However, the situation goes downhill when she can't find her dog Poochie. Her manager Arthur Phillips announces that the dog is insured with Wells Fargo for $20,000 and Pearl will not go on stage without the dog. When the local banker Henry Dobson volunteers his help, the agent asks to store the policy in his bank safe to which Dobson agrees. The nervous Charlie, the Wells Fargo agent, frantically telegraphs Jim Hardie who arrives finally. Afte learning about the situation, he goes on the trail to find the dog. He locates it at a Wells Fargo station with the two Mexican managers who are less than reputable. Before he leaves they mention that they were paid $20 by the agent to take the dog and then when he tries to return the dog, Pearl no longer wants it.
