- Colonel Sheppard's team finds a world where the leader lives in a tower that possesses the power to stop Wraith attacks.
- The team is exploring a planet with an agrarian society. McKay wants to leave as soon as possible. They have no interesting technology and barely enough food for themselves. Eldred, a village elder, has at first no time to speak with them. He was busy harvesting and preparing tribute for a Tower that offers the people protection from the Wraith. He is willing to show them it. It looks just the same as the central spire of Atlantis. Eldred tells the Tower uses bright lights to shoot down the Wraith, which the team recognizes immediately as the drones from the ancients. Although Eldred has never seen it used on the Wraith, he mentions a 'Lord Protector' once in a while shows his power to the villagers by firing one of the balls. Sheppard asks Eldred to arrange a visit with the man.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- A team from Atlantis visits a planet where they find a tower that very much resembles the structures on Atlantis. The local villagers live a simple life but are under the thumb of a local aristocracy of sorts who watch all of their movements and who demand complete obedience. The Lord Protector and his court live a lavish lifestyle requiring the villagers to provide half of their crops every year. Rodney estimates that the Lord Protector's city is as large as Atlantis and sets off to explore an underground complex the villagers call the catacombs in the hope of finding a ZPM. Sheppard is forced to meet the Lord Protector, who is obviously dying, and it is clear that his Chamberlain has his own plans for him....as does the Lord Protector's daughter. Sheppard sets out to re-balance the distribution of power on the planet.—garykmcd
- Sheppard's next planet is a feudal society, where rustics hand half their harvest to the 'tower' court of the lord protector, for the protection against the Wraiths -unsees for millennia- by drone-weapons. Chamberlain Otho rescues John from arrest by the abusive guard, to meet the court in the tower, actually the overgrown highest spire of a copy of Atlantis, mostly underground, which McKay explores, seeking the ZPM, with local Baldric, who duly warns for seismic tremors. John is seduced by princess Mara, who expects to succeed the sick lord if he marries her, being found able to restore the royal bloodline, whose Ancient control gen is degenerating. Crown prince Tavius is arrested as prime suspect for the poisoning by food of the lord, which Becket finds irreversible after months,,but John gets arrested in a traitorous palace coup. McKay and Ronon must recruit the terrified locals for a counterrevolution, invoking the genetic cure.—KGF Vissers
