- Master Bra'tac arrives with bad news: Teal'c's wife is deathly ill, and Teal'c leaves to be with her. Shortly thereafter, the gate is opened but nothing comes through. Then Carter discovers a very low power signal that is slowly building an overload powerful enough to destroy the Earth.
- O'Neill is still searching for Daniel Jackson's replacement, but is having little success. The Russian liaison officer thinks one of his countrymen should be given the opportunity but neither O'Neill or General Hammond agree with that. Jonas Quinn suggests to Carter that he would be a good replacement and she agrees, but O'Neill again says no. Jonas does tag along to Area 51, however, where they view the newest addition to their arsenal, an X302 fighter that should be able to travel through hyperspace. Meanwhile, Master Bra'tac arrives at Stargate Command to tell Teal'c that his wife is seriously ill. They set off but when they try to return to SGC they are unable to dial in and with good reason: SGC is under attack by Anubis.—garykmcd
- General Hammond is pressing Jack to find a substitute for Daniel Jackson. Colonel Chekov wants the participation of a Russian scientist; Jonas Quinn is trying to convince Sam or Teal'c to be the replacement; the Pentagon sends the annoying Dr. Rodney McKay. Out of the blue, Master Bra'tac summons Teal'c since his wife is dying. Meanwhile, Colonel O'Neill tests the X302 fighter developed using the Naquadria brought by Jonas. When they return to the SGC, they find that they are unable to dial the Stargate and that it may explode. Teal'c is also unable to return to the SGC. Soon they learn that the Stargate Command is under attack by Anubis and their only chance is to use the X302 to contact the Asgard; but Jonas advises that the fighter will not work adequately since the project has a mistake.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Jonas Quinn, the Naquadria expert, is eager to take Daniel's place, which Hammond wants filled, albeit not by a Russian as demanded by liaison Colonel Chekov, yet despite his matching brilliance, none of the human team members really wants a second alien, but the Pentagon's choice, snake Dr. Rodney McKay, is even less popular, especially with Major Carter. The Stargate is blocked - nothing seems to come through - as it turns out, however, it's subtly been set up for an overload in days, which could cause a global disaster. Jonas came along to test the 'optimalized' intergalactic technologies X302 fighter, but only O'Neal and Carter man it in an attempt to ask the Asgard for urgent advice, but the mission fails to launch properly. Teal'c got permission to return to his Jaffa planet, Chulak, after Bra'tac came to report his wife is dying, and must deal with the cremation and the bitter resentment of his teen son Rya'c, who feels Teal'c abandoned his family and the Jaffa cause to serve SGC.
