One of the photos Alan and Tony were looking at in the epilogue (the brunette) was of voluptuous model-actress Caroline Munro.
Originally titled "The Mutiny". Filmed 18 to 30 October 1976. A 13-episode third season had been planned, but the deadline for U.S. stations to place orders for the following season occurred during this episode's shoot; the number of orders fell short of the minimum quota, so the cast and crew were informed that there would no longer be a third season (some of the cast cite other reasons for the cancellation).
There's a deleted scene showing Tony and Alan separately supervising the evacuation preparations; communicating with one another while moving through various launch pads. (This scene was immediately prior to Tony showing up on the Command Center wall monitor screens, informing the Commander that the evacuation procedure will be ready for launch in nine minutes).
Guest star Carolyn Seymour was married to the episode's director, Peter Medak at the time of production. She would later audition for the role of Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), subsequently appearing in three episodes, twice playing a Romulan Commander, as well as two episodes of Star Trek: Voyager (1995).
