Clark gets a Super Dog
Rcwilkinson12316 December 2007
Even a hero needs the man's best friend, as seen in this fun "Smallville" episode.

Some dogs have escaped a LuthorCorp laboratory due to the amazing strength that they display as a result of tests involving what kryptonite will do to species besides humans. Lois hits one of these escaped dogs and takes it to the Kent farm. Clark becomes attached to the dog and wants to name him 'Krypto.' Lois, on the other hand, would like to name him 'Clarkie.' Additionally, we see that Lionel has previously known the schematic Genevieve Teague, who has arrived in Smallville for mysterious reasons.

This episode is great because of the 'superdog' angle that it takes, as derived from the superdog Krypto from the Silver Age Superman comics. It also features some funny dialog between Clark and Lois, and continues the evolving storyline of the Teague connection to Lana and the three elements.

Taking the Chance with Loyalty
claudio_carvalho7 June 2006
Two trained and powerful dogs rob Smallville Cooperative under the command of the brothers Zack and Josh Greenfield, but one of them escapes and is hit by Lois Lane's car. She brings the wounded animal to Kent Farm, and Clark Kent finds the secret of the animal and becomes attached to it, while the criminals look for the animal for a next heist. Meanwhile, the mysterious relationship of Lana Lang and the Teague's ancestors is disclosed a little more.

"Krypto" is a reasonable episode of "Smallville". Lionel Luthor is back, and the enigmatic relationship between Countess Margaret Isobel Tharow and Genevieve is becoming interesting. I liked the way Clark tells Lex that he is going to take the chance with Krypto's loyalty. My vote is seven.

Just the kind of fluff you needed this season.

Warning: Spoilers
With the Thoreau storyline getting very soap opera-ish. Which I both love and hate. Because I prefer the show in a more standalone episodes format. The season needed another story closer the genesis of the series, with a new « krypto monster » seeking Clark's help. In this case, a dog. And, who doesn't love a good dog story? « Krypto » isn't an episode I particularly love, but it's entertaining, and has a nice touch of silly humor. After Clark's previous disenchanting moments. After a row of decently entertaining fillers, where Lex has a stalker, played by Colbie Smulders. Nightmares come true. Alicia returns, and is murdered by a bigot (can we say, woke?). After Chloe learns about Clark's secret. Or a popular football player (who happens to be a krypto monster) makes Clark give up on his dream of becoming a famous sportsman, one day. You have the one with « super dogs ». This is back when Lois was living in the Kent's family house, the Teague's drama got more interesting. With pre-Supernatural Jensen Ackles, perfecting his Dean Winchester mimics. And Jane Seymour playing perfectly his mysterious, yet concerned mother. And Chloe and Lana got over their Clark's drama. Also, you had two up-and-coming TV actors, playing the evil brothers, manipulating the dogs. The opening scene was pretty thrilling and you got to witness another « character » sensing Lex's true nature. Good soundtrack all over.
