Larry David and his entertainment lawyer had a bet over a friendly game of golf. David's victory allowed him to use his lawyer's name in an episode of Seinfeld. That's how Lloyd Braun (played by Peter Keleghan) became a character in this episode.
There is an alternate scene with Lloyd Braun, played by Peter Keleghan, confronting George (Jason Alexander) for faking his injury on the DVD. Lloyd is also sarcastic when Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) says the name tags were a good idea.
The second time the series ever used the f-word. The first time was by Elaine in The Subway (1992). All of these are beeped out.
This episode was taped just before the New York City mayoral election. Two versions were produced: one where Dinkins wins and one where Giuliani wins. Giuliani, a fan of the show, was immediately willing to appear as himself. Dinkins was more reluctant, so Phil Morris (who also played Jackie Chiles) played a spokesperson who spoke on his behalf. Both versions of the episode are on the season five DVD.
ABC Entertainment Executive Lloyd Braun lent his name to a character appearing in three episodes, this episode, season seven, episode ten, The Gum (1995), and season nine, episode three, The Serenity Now (1997), and is a neighbour and nemesis of George Costanza (Jason Alexander).
