The Seinfeld logo would have a different design each season. Season eight had a black and white checker design around the title because Jerry Seinfeld believed this was going to be the final season of the series. (It was meant to resemble the checkered flag at an auto racing event which signifies the final lap.)
Larry David's first return to Seinfeld, doing the voice of George Steinbrenner, since leaving the show at the end of the previous season. The crew weren't sure how David would take to performing lines scripted for him, since in previous seasons he had final say on all scripts and also ad-libbed much of Steinbrenner's dialog. David performed the script without incident or complaint, though he did later remark that the experience was an odd one.

Footage of the tank itself was replaced with more water that was digitally added to make it look more like the East River, however, if you look closely at almost the middle of your screen you can see where the digital water begins and the tank water ends.
According to episode writer Gregg Kavet, the character of Conrad was based on the series' longtime prop master Stan Ascough, who, just like Conrad, would overwhelm the production crew with choices. Kavet wasn't sure if Ascough ever realized he was the basis for Conrad, though after the episode was produced Ascough did seem to recognize the downside of presenting too many choices.
The song George Steinbrenner (Larry David) has stuck in his head is "Heartbreaker" from Pat Benatar. It was released in 1979.
