The Sally Weaver storyline in this episode was inspired by Kathy Griffin's HBO stand-up special, where she ridiculed Jerry Seinfeld, alleging he was rude to her during her appearance in the episode "The Doll." Seinfeld was so amused by this routine that he showed a clip of it during the audience warm-up before tapings and even incorporated it into this episode.
This episode once again refers to the show being "about nothing." Newman refers to it when asking for Sally's autograph at the diner and George states his relationship with Janet has to be "about something" other than looks because she looks a lot like Jerry.
The order of the last scenes is different in syndication. In the original, the epilogue has Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) and George (Jason Alexander) at Monk's. He has already run out of Janet's apartment and George says, "We...must never ever speak of this again.." That scene has been excised. The aforementioned scene that has Janet and George in her apartment where he sees her with her hair cut, now appears as the epilogue. In the original it appeared BEFORE the last scene in Jerry's apartment with Jerry, Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) watching the Sally ((Kathy Griffin)) special on cable.
Michael Richards accidentally caused the freezer door to open after Jerry threw him across the kitchen. This was not planned, intentional or scripted.
