I expected a little more from this story pulled by Dan Duryea as the lead, playing a journalist, working for a big newspaper, and fighting against a gambling syndicate. This is a noir drama, but not crime nor thriller, not even action packed scheme. This is rather a good character study of a man seeking justice but unfortunately unaware of harm to can do to others and also himself by snooping everywhere. It is interesting to realize that it's not because you have a tiny crime or noir element in a story that necessarily makes it a crime topic. In this episode, the first thing you see is a newspaper opened on a big title: gambling syndicate. But yes, I expected a little more from Robert Florey. But that doesn't mean that this tale is corny.
