The Malibu Sands Beach Resort (415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica) is known as Annenburg Community Beach House and is unrecognizable because the Northridge Earthquake on January 17, 1994, necessitated remodeling. The structure was originally a 118 room mansion built by William Randolph Hearst for his mistress Marion Davies. The locale also served as the site of the Beverly Hills Beach Club on Beverly Hills 90210.
As A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) translates for chef Roberto (uncredited), he mistakes the word "strike" as relating to bowling rather than a work stoppage. This error only works in English, where the words are homonyms. In Spanish, the term for a work stoppage (used in the episode) is huelga, while the bowling accomplishment is pleno.
As of this episode, this is the fifth out of six episodes in Season 3 to take place at Malibu Sands Resort.
At one point, Slater jokingly calls Stacey "Terminator 3." This episode came out in 1991, and the actual Terminator 3 wouldn't release until another 12 years.
Stacey Corosi (Leah Remini) asks Herbert Thornhill (uncredited) to tango, and the rest of the party follows suit. The tango is a ballroom dance that originated in the 1880s along the River Plate, characterized by marked rhythms and postures and abrupt pauses.
