The Shapiro Sisters were the daughters of Ken Shapiro who directed The Groove Tube (1974) starring Chevy Chase.
Gilda Radner, as Emily Litella, jokes about not understanding the need for "canker research" until the predictable correction by Chevy Chase of "cancer research," whereupon the chastened Emily replies "Oh yes, that is important." Sadly, Gilda Radner would die of cancer.
The Shapiro Sisters "perform" the song "This Will Be" which was played in the opening credits of the film While You Were Sleeping (1995), which also starred Peter Boyle.
