Roxy just the foxiest
In this one, Melissa Joan Hart's hairstyle just comes in below standard. Look at that, looks great from behind, all that jewelry detail, great! but that awful center-parting thing when viewing her face to face, self-defeating. Sorry, just my opinion, I know.
Soleil Moon Frye (as Roxie) is supposed to be this Gothic near-reform school chick (well, that's her vibe) and she is really, really miscast NOT THAT I AM COMPLAINING, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for she is clearly a sweet thing, way darling and totally A list, despite her PUNKY BREWSTER (blegh!) background. (only kidding, I've only seen a trailer, but believe me, that looks saccharine-sweet, super- schmaltzy in the dorkiest dumbest way) and my point here is that the producers (who after all, include (wait for it) Melissa's mom (ah, the plot thickens), really should ensure that the lead girl looks her absolute best. I have, in the past, been very critical of MJH. Let's face it, although she is, like, way older than her character, she has youth on her side, a cascading blond mane to rival Jennifer Aniston's, and definitely no excuses. Yet she often comes across as a whiny, perturbed, spoiled brat. Just how much of that is acting and how much of that is real life, I wouldn't know. Just that she is always forever on thin ice with me, as far as my humble opinion goes.
Okay, in this episode, Sabrina's expose in the school newspaper re preferential treatment of the athletic team causes major upheaval. Even Roxie took a cake walk class - bowling. Some hilarious bowling scenes. With Roxie the scene stealer.
The Sabrina-as-an-eraser sequence is just the latest in the continuous never-ending line of dismally unfunny gags. I can't think of one that ever worked. Tell you one thing, "teacher" actor sure knew this "must be the end of the line"...!
By the way, this Miles guy, totally miscast. He might not be a jock type, but the "scrawny arms" Roxie refers to... Hey, people, what are you doing? Creating major complexes! That guy isn't at all even weedy!
