Bob And Doug Get Their Own Special
The McKenzie brothers are getting so popular Guy gives them a network special.
Guy gives a message about not doing reruns but immediately puts on a repeat of Indira!. Angie Dickinson (Catherine O'Hara) does a deodorant commercial while her stand in gets beat up in an action scene.
Carl and Fred Scutz, the pig faced butchers, try to convince Guy to use Bob and Doug to make money off of them. Guy throws them out and right away comes up with a scheme to exploit the McKenzies. Levy does an Al Peck Used Car commercial (no song and dance).
Bob and Doug are seen in their dressing room (a linen closet). LaRue tries to get them to wash his car. Guy then comes in tells LaRue his show is cancelled and offers Bob and Doug their own special. He also cancels Bittman's special, gives Bob and Doug LaRue's dressing room and even lets them ride in his wheelchair. We get a promo for a new soap opera called The Days Of The Week.
Guy has musical guest Tony Bennett in his office when Lola storms in and causes a scene. Libby Wolfson talks about fitness on You! but can't stand the smell in the gym.
Floyd and Earl have a new show Nightline Melonville. Earl keeps having technical difficulties when he tries to interview a union president played by John Candy.
Bob and Doug are being costumed and made up for their special. They pretend to be astronauts when they sit under hair dryers. Mrs Prickley goes lugeing and LaRue and Bittman get drunk first hating then praising Caballero.
Bob and Doug's special turns out to be a glitzy show with dancing girls and full orchestra. They make a mess of the monologue, unable to read the cue cards. Tony Bennett is rushed to the set and he sings I Wish I Were In Love Again.
In the next sequence of The Great White North Palace O'Hara and Martin play guest stars Morgan Fairchild and Joyce DeWitt. Bob and Doug do a hilariously bad impression of the wild and crazy guys made famous by Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd. Morgan and Joyce walk off the set and Guy has the two "Hosers" taken off the air.
Bob and Doug are stuck sweeping up after their disastrous show. Tony Bennett shows up to console them and sings The Best Is Yet To Come.
