A large mountain lake has been restocked with fish and no fishing is allowed, but the fish are somehow disappearing. It seems someone is illegally net fishing the fish to sell at inflated prices. Roy is helping the Forest Service investigate. He sees two horsemen in the restricted area shoot Pete Martin, an old prospector. Martin is only slightly wounded and Roy and Bullet give chase but the baddies start a fire. Both Roy and Bullet have to stop the chase to put out the fire. The bad guys then kidnap Martin and leave Dale tied up. Roy finds Dale, frees her, and sets out after the villains. They dump Pete out of a rowboat into the lake and Roy and Bullet use a speedboat to pull him out. But Martin is so scared he feigns amnesia. These are some real dangerous crooks that the RR Gang is up against. And just why is this newcomer Steadman always hanging around? This episode has a different setting, with it taking place in a mountain forest with trees all around. And the lake provides an opportunity for some of the action to take place on the water in boats. This plot and setting reminds me of a movie that Roy and Dale did in 1947, Susanna Pass. It was in color and the setting and plot of fish being stolen from a mountain lake by net fishing is very similar to this episode.
