- On intuition Buz steers the 66ers off route to a Maryland hamlet where everyone thinks they recognize Buz - as returning prodigal of a hated local clan. When Buz meets the Colby clan they look like clones - of Buz. Tod & Buz speed into Charm City where a family member ran to with-child, disappearing into the sin-filled streets of Baltimore. Orphan Buz has to know if she's his mother.—David Stevens
- On a whim, Tod and Buz decide to get off the turnpike and set up in the small town of Hester, Maryland, population 107, without knowing anything about it or even if there are jobs to be had there. Beyond the fact that they are pushing the Corvette as they enter town due to running out of gas, Tod and Buz get stares - more like leers - from everyone they meet in town. They will learn that it is because Buz is the spitting image of the local Colbys, a family that lives just out of town that most do not like because of their uncouth and mean manner, the boys in what would be Buz's generation who resolve issues with their fists. Upon meeting the Colbys, Tod and Buz agree about the likeness, the similarities not only in looks, but in mannerisms and behavior. The townsfolk and the Colbys believe Buz must be the son of Dorothea Colby, who left Hester just over twenty-five years ago when she was pregnant. She was never heard from again. Although Buz always fantasized that if he did meet his parents that it would be in some fairytale setting, he, with Tod and the Bureau of Aid and Prevention's help, eventually goes on a search for Dorothea through the streets of Baltimore - her known destination after leaving Hester - to see if she is indeed his mother. Buz will at least get a conclusive answer to that question.—Huggo
