Sometimes, the old TV show "Public Defender" comes off as a bit stiff and wooden...mostly because the star, Reed Hadley, was a bit stiff and wooden. Still, despite this, the show often was quite enjoyable...as is the case with "Brutality".
The show begins with Bart Matthews (Hadley) introducing himself to a new client, Mr. Foley. Foley was caught with stolen jewelry and signed a confession but the case would NOT be so easy. Now Foley is claiming he only confessed after the police Lieutenant beat the confession out of him. Foley was covered with cuts and bruises...which were not on him when he was booked and photographed. So Matthews decides to investigate to determine how Foley got beaten...but his efforts are hindered by a sensation-seeking reporter who goes off making accusations without any real evidence (not that any reporter would ever do that!). By the end of the show, the REAL story comes out...and Matthews shows that the Public Defenders office is simply out to make sure the law is upheld...not there just to defend criminals or smear the police.
The story is well written and interesting...nuff said!
