- Season 1 Episode 15 - The Leaper Prologue: A rooftop sniper with silencer kills a man on a building ledge across the street.
Mother hands Pete a bag of groceries to deliver to friend Gussie, the widow of the killed man on the ledge. Her husband Lester was a human fly, easily scaling buildings, she mentions a job was coming from a phone call Lester received, a possible pro-engagement, but Lester never told Gussie the details, although, she thought the phone call was from another performer, Sam, the strong-man, and his wife, Pearl, who were carnival friends. Lester said no it wasn't Sam on the phone and it also was not in Lester's nature to give up and fall to his death, he was too good at his craft. Jacoby has the sniper rifle, found in a vent of the building across from where Lester was, and coincidently, diamonds were just stolen, the escape of the perpetrators is unknown, but a human fly could handle it, as Jacoby looks at Pete on his way out. Per Jacoby, the jewel thieves were performing the heist at the same time Lester on out on the ledge, asking the bellboy what time it was, entertaining the crowd below as they made their escape. Gussie calls Pete, insisting on seeing him. Gussie says Lester was wearing the grippers, his work shoes for scaling buildings, his street shoes were in the closet, therefore, he was on a job. At Pete's insistence, Gussie calls Sam, says she has not received her cut from the diamond heist and she understands the whole caper went off without a hitch. Sam says to come to the pier, while Sam is meeting and talking to the sniper Chop. Pete goes to see Sam in place of Gussie, meets up with Chop, who points a gun at him. Jacoby is hiding in the same car as Pete, shoots Chop, Jacoby is hit in the leg, is down retrieving his gun, while the fight Sam and Pete are engaged in ends up in the water. Pete wins the fight, as Sam is drowned, as we see Pete dragging his body on shore. Next scene is Pete and Edie at his apartment playing gin rummy.
