Where did that snake come from?

Rodney agrees to a £50 bet with Mickey Pearce, the bet involves Rodney taking a girl to an event at The Nag's Head, but Rodney naturally doesn't have a date.

It may not be an out and out classic, but almost forty years on, and it is still super funny, the writing is just off the scale, some of the one liners are incredible.

Favourite scene perhaps the moment where Uncle Albert is recounting his story about Helga and her finger, that was side splitting. Compare this to any comedy from the last twenty or thirty years, it's just on another level.

Yvonne was an absolute scream, I only wish we'd gotten to see some of her antics.

Some of the acting here was terrific, Jason and Lyndhurst were both excellent.

8/10.

Rodney bets Mickey Pearce that his has a date for a do in the Nag's Head on Saturday night.

This is a good episode with some memorable banter.

Rodney having to follow up this kind of bet sets up a plot with great potential and it delivers well. Most of the jokes come at Rodney's expense and from the dialogue between the Trotters in numerous scenes. Everything builds to a very good final scene that uses the aftermath of the event to good effect.

Del, Rodney, and Albert provide the biggest laughs and the main stars are on great form as always. Recurring favourites like Boycie and Mickey are good value for screen time. Guest character Yvonne is played very well by Carolyn Allen in her brief appearance.

What - Cos That's How Many Fingers She Had?

Rodney's dressed in a way that gives Del the urge to put on his Bobby Crush LP; Uncle Albert recounts a personal love story; Yvonne doesn't have a drinking problem - she likes it; and there's a snake in the hood of Albert's duffel coat.

A decent enough episode but I have to admit that having not seen these in years I couldn't remember a thing about it going in.

Watching the Girls Go By

This is another so-so episode of 'Only Fools and Horses' from the fourth series.

It follows a pattern that was in place across many of the episodes from this fourth series for me in the sense that it starts well, it has an interesting enough premise, but it seems to be very slow and there's too many pointless scenes. There's a clever pay off at the end, but it's not as funny as it could have been.

We do however get more examples of how this new trio of Del Boy, Rodney and Uncle Albert will function and interact, which is good, is and the first real example of Uncle Albert spinning a war time saga yarn.

Overall though, this is only a so-so outing.
