- TriviaThe Odd Couple TV show often included gentle jabs at contemporary culture (early 1970s) and commentary on social issues. In this story, Felix is photographing the princess of a small European country (with the fictitious name of Lichtenberg, which, in reality, is a neighborhood of Berlin). The princess invites Felix and Oscar to a reception at her hotel, where one of the guests is the Consul from Nigeria, a tall, elegant black man (played by Albert Popwell]) dressed in a colorful African robe. When Oscar arrives late, he explains that he was delayed when a truck hit a wagon full of watermelons. A few minutes later, the Nigerian Consul speaks to Oscar alone: Consul: "You mentioned something about watermelons." Oscar: "Oh, yes, there was this accident, see, and they went all over the street," Consul: "Oh yes, how sad. About this watermelon. Is it a food of your people, yes?" Oscar: (seemingly unsure whether the Consul is serious or not) "Yes." Consul: "Interesting." (The Consul leaves to speak to other guests.)

Oscar meets royalty
Felix is doing a portrait of a princess from a small country and Oscar falls in love with her.
Jean Simmons plays the princess and she is one of the biggest stars to guest on the show, having appeared in screen classics like "Hamlet", "The Robe" and "Spartacus". This is an OK episode, funniest scene may be the opening where Oscar tries to pick up the princess before he knows who she is, thinking she is just another model.
