A Bump in the Road
Hitchcoc6 February 2024
This is an episode, even for a show that has a lot of stretching of possibilities, goes even beyond that. Here are the situations. Chris is doing his morning show when a pretty young woman comes into the studio. He is so taken with her that he loses his voice, and it stays lost. He literally cannot speak, not even a sound. At the same time, as Ed suffers from not knowing who his parents were, he is visited by a spirit--an elderly Indian man, who no one but other Indians can see. He travels around with Ed, using every method he knows as a spirit, trying to solve the mystery if why Ed was abandoned. There is a funny scene where Ed is eating breakfast at the Brick and gets a hamburger and fries for the old guy (whom no one can see). This leads to the idea that when a man loses his voice, he must have sex with the most beautiful woman in town. This turn out to be Maggie. She will have nothing to do with it until Fleischman starts in on her with put downs and disdain. It has a nice conclusion.
