Maurice bequeaths antique silverware, including 'sugar nips'. Well into the 1800s you would buy sugar as a large, up to 10 pound, vaguely conical solid lump. Nothing was granular. Sugar nippers were strong scissors-like tools for snipping pieces off of the sugarloaf. There were also special sugar chisels for big jobs.
When Ed imagines winning the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award, he thanks "Federico" and "Steven." The thank-yous are directed to renowned film directors Federico Fellini and Steven Spielberg (played by actors, not the actual directors).
