The Artist and the Philistine
Hitchcoc19 March 2024
After a recital, Maurice employs a young violinist to evaluate a valuable violin he intends to buy. He is hoping to turn it around and make a big profit on the resale. What happens, however, is that the young guy realizes he has never played such a fine instrument before and becomes obsessed with it, showing up at all hours to get Maurice to let him play. Of course, it turns out the guy is mentally unbalanced and Maurice puts a stop to it. But it continues. In the other story, while Joel is examining Maggie, he realizes she has a dust mite allergy. His description of these critters sends her into a tailspin, fumigating and cleaning, buying special filters, and going bonkers. They have their first date and pretty soon Joel is sent packing. But there is a wonderful message at the end and we get something we've waited for for a long time. Maurice also shows a bit of humanity that seldom surfaces.
