I love this series, a graduate professor uses it at times . If anyone knows what they say as the first snow falls , thanks and watch them over and over again.

Seminal episode

Warning: Spoilers
The last few episodes of season four and the episodes of season five leading up to this one have been fine, but this one is important because fences are mended. Joel and Ruth Anne, Joel and Maggie, Maurice and Shelley. An overarching storyline always simmering below the surface, the friendship between Joel and Maggie. The ending is a heartwarming gem. I don't want to say too much.but this show is always about people who really care about each other. It makes us care too. Sentimentality served warm. How many shows give you a desire to suspend your disbelief and make the show a little part of your life. One of a kind.

Snow Falling, Night Falling, Fast, Oh, Fast

This is a really stunning episode. The humanity of the characters really comes forward. We finally see the forming of mutual respect between Maggie and Joel. Joel has been treating an elderly woman for three years. While on a routine visit, she announces that by the end of the week she will be dead. Being the doctor he is, he refuses to listen to this and assures her that there is nothing wrong with her, other than typical age related things. He becomes rather obsessive, overstepping his bounds to a degree. In another odd feature, Maurice has been carrying around the belief that Shelly had once told him that she loved him. She lies and says it never happened . It sends him into a tailspin. But with what transpires, the final scene is the first snow of winter, gently falling as people stand on Main Street. Chris reads part of a beautiful poem about falling snow, what it does and where it goes, and how it makes the world gentle. We finally see a loving gaze as Maggie and Joel stand close to each other as the scene fades out.
